Eunice kept sneaking glances at Chiara, making sure she was okay and hadn’t been bothered by what happened.
Chiara caught Eunice looking her way, so she flashed a reassuring smile and gave a subtle shake of her head.
Seeing how calm Chiara looked, Eunice let out a quiet sigh of reef.
Adele turned to Chiara. “Chiara, about Titus…”
Chiara gave a gentle smile. “We’re already divorced.”
Adele fell silent, her gaze drifting to her grandson. All she could do was sigh.
They were so close… Adele thought to herself.
Little did she know, this was exactly the outcome Chiara had been hoping for.
They spent the whole morning at the café, and it wasn’t until Ryan got sleepy and dozed off in Chiara’s arms that they finally said their goodbyes.
“Grandma, Mom, if you ever miss Ryan, just come see him anytime,” Chiara said.
“Alright, alright,” Debby replied.
“Chiara, make sure you drive safely with Ryan,” Adele reminded her.
Eunice spoke up, “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure they get home safe and sound.”
“Alright, alright, get in the car. Stay warm,” Adele said.
After saying her goodbyes, Chiara got in the car with Ryan in her arms.
Debby and Adele watched longingly as the car slowly drove away their eyes following it until it was out of sight.
“Let’s head back,” Debby said.
Adele nodded, but kept looking back, unable to hide her reluctance to leave.
Seeing Adele’s reluctance, Debby gently reassured her, “We’ve got plenty of days ahead. No need to worry. Chiara said she’s staying for good now, so there’s more than enough time.”
That finally put Adele’s mind at ease. She had been worried that he might not be able to see Ryan if Chiara left.
“Mom, Ryan looks exactly like Titus did when he was little. It’s life they’re cut from the same mold,” Adele said.
“Yeah, they really do. I just hope my precious great-grandson doesn’t pick up his dad’s attitude,” Debby replied.
Adele helped Debby walk as they headed out.
Paul, sitting in the car parked a little way off, watched as the group split up at the entrance and got into their cars. Only then did he glance at the rearview mirror as he informed, “Mr. Goodman, they’ve left.”
But Titus suddenly asked, “Did you see that?”
Even though Titus didn’t spell it out, Paul instantly knew what was referring to.

“Just a glimpse.” Paul replied.
After all, the kid was asleep, so Paul couldn’t see his face at all.
“That’s my son,” Titus muttered.
Paul was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. “Yes, Mr. Goodman. He is your son.”
Titus closed his eyes, his face unreadable. “Let’s head back to the office.”
“Yes, Mr. Goodman,” Paul replied.

But on the drive back, Paul suddenly heard Titus let out a soft lagh from the back seat, catching him off guard.
Paul glanced at the rearview mirror, confused. “Mr. Goodman, what are you laughing about?”
Titus replied calmly, “Shouldn’t I be happy? I have a son now.”
“That’s true. The kid looks just like you, Mr. Goodman. Anyone can tell you’re his dad. No DNA test would be needed,” Paul
said.
Titus arched an eyebrow, a faint smile playing on his lips. Anyone could tell that he was in a pretty good mood.
Seeing Titus in such a good mood, Paul decided to bring up something else.
“Mr. Goodman, Ms. Watson has called me three times today,” Paul said.
Titus replied coolly, “Invite her to dinner.”
Paul glanced at Titus and nodded. He was curious, but he knew better than to ask too many questions.
Eunice dragged Chiara out for a whole day of shopping, and most of the stuff they bought was for Ryan.
Chiara couldn’t help but sigh. “You’re buying way too much. He won’t even be able to use half of it.”
“I don’t care, I’m still buying it,” Eunice said. “For the past three years, I was too scared to buy him anything, worried I’d expose your little secret. But today, I finally get to spoil my godson. It makes me happy.”
Chiara just shook her head, watching as Ryan happily played in the car.
Eunice scooped Ryan up. “Our Ryan is so sensible and sweet. He never cries or throws a tantrum.”
Seeing how well-behaved Ryan was, Chiara’s heart melted. She gently took his little hand.
“He’s been quiet and well-behaved since he was born. He’s never given me any trouble,” Chiara said.
“Yeah, our Ryan is amazing!” Eunice agreed.
Ryan was an absolute angel. He never cried or made a fuss and just nodded off whenever he got sleepy.
Chiara made sure to pack her bag with plenty of warm water and formula, fully prepared for anything Ryan might need.
“We’ve been out all day. Let’s go find somewhere to get some dier,” Eunice suggested.
“I…” Chiara was about to suggest heading home for dinner when her phone rang. It was Heather.
“Hey, Heather?” Chiara answered.
“Chiara, I’ve got a client meeting tonight, so I won’t be able to come home and have dinner with you and Ryan,” Heather

Chiara glanced at Eunice, who was standing close enough to heal the call, so she leaned in.

“Don’t worry, Heather. I promise I won’t let Chiara and Ryan go hungry. Once they’ve had a good meal, I’ll get them home safe and sound.” Eunice assured her.
“Perfect. I’ll let you go then.” Heather replied.
“Bye!” Chiara said.
After Chiara hung up. Eunice scooped Ryan up and grinned, “Alright, let’s go hunt for some dinner, you two.”
They ended up at a fancy restaurant, and Chiara frowned. “Why are we eating here?”
“Ryan has never been to a place like this before, right?” Eunice asked.
“No.” Chiara replied.
“Exactly! Ryan’s our golden boy, our little prince. He should get used to places like this early on. What do they call this again?” Eunice said.
Chiara immediately understood what Eunice meant and replied “Broadening his horizons.”
“Exactly! Kids need to get out and see the world early,” Eunice chimed in.
Chiara couldn’t really argue with that. She thought about how Ryan had hardly ever eaten out anywhere nice. Their place was pretty cut off from everything.
