Chapter 170
St your here
Chapter 170
Paul stared at the dazed woman in the rearview mirror, his face lank, and couldn’t help saying something. I already reminded you, Ms. Watson,” Paul said flatly.
Yvonne just stayed silent. But Paul went on. “Ms. Watson, I can still take you back right now if you’d prefer.”
Yvonne gave Paul a sharp look, bit her lip, then steeled herself and got out of the car. She walked over to Titus, slipped her arm through his again, her voice a little shaky as she asked, “Titu, why did you bring me here?”
“I’m here to see my son. You, on the other hand, weren’t you the one who insisted on tagging along?” Titus said flatly, not showing a hint of emotion.
Yvonne hesitated, biting her lip. “But…”
Titus cut her off, “If you’re scared, you can just go back.”
That fired up Yvonne’s competitive streak again. She said, “I’m not scared. I’m your girlfriend, right? Stuff like this is just part of the deal, so I might as well get used to it early. What do you think?”
Titus gave her a look that was half amusement, half indifference, but she wasn’t done yet. “And since you’re not trying to keep me out of this, I can tell you actually care about me,” Yvonne said.
Titus just said, “Let’s go.”
Once they were shown inside, Yvonne just froze up, totally caught off guard. She’d mentally prepared herself for the Lynch family, but she was nowhere near ready to deal with the Goodman family.
Especially when they walked into the living room, the good vibes vanished, replaced by instant awkwardness. As an actress, there was no way Yvonne could miss the tension and awkwardness in the room.
At that moment, she was really starting to regret insisting on coming along. ‘If I’d known it’d be like this, I should’ve just gone back with Paul when I had the chance!’ she thought.
Titus, on the other hand, didn’t look the least bit awkward. He was completely at ease.
But the Goodman family looked like they’d just swallowed a lemon when they saw Titus and Yvonne show up together at the Lynch residence. Adele’s face turned ashen, and Charlie’s expression was downright stormy.
Their rare moment of family happiness was completely ruined by these two barging in out of nowhere. Yvonne snuck a glance at Adele and Charlie, who looked like they’d bitten into a lemon. Her anxiety and regret only grew.
She actually shrank back behind Titus, feeling totally out of her lement. But Titus, with zero hesitation, pulled her right back to his side and said, “Mom, Dad, Grandma, this is Yvonne.”
Yvonne’s heart was racing, torn between excitement and anxiety She was so swept up by his boldness that for a second, she totally forgot they were at the Lynch residence, not his own family’s house.
Yvonne lowered her head politely. “Hello, Mr and Mrs. Goodma. I’m Yvonne, Titus’s girlfriend.”
Debby didn’t show her displeasure as openly as Adele and Charl, but her words were anything but polite. “Are you regressing as you get older? Not picky about what you bring home anymore?” Debby said, her tone sharp,
Yvonne’s smile froze on her face, and she shot Titus a look, feeling a little wronged. Titus shot a glance at Chiara. She was quietly watching the whole scene, her surprise fading into calm omposure, face completely unreadable.
His eyes grew cold, and he said deadpan, “Nice choice, but she couldn’t care less about me.” Everyone knew exactly who he meant, and Yvonne’s face went red with embarrassment. Right now, she wished she could just disappear.

Just as she was debating whether she should just leave, Chiara finally rose from the couch. She said calmly. Ms. Watson, welcome to the Lynch residence. Please, have a seat.”
Yvonne felt even more conflicted after hearing that. She glance at Titus, hoping to gauge his reaction, but he was already sitting down beside Chiara on the couch. Yvonne bit her lip and railed after them, but the couch was already packed; not a single spot left.
Chiara gestured to the spot where Yvonne had been standing earlier. “Ms. Watson, please, have a seat.”
“Are you sure that’s alright?” Yvonne asked, hesitating.
Chiara smiled warmly. “Don’t worry about it. Have a seat; I was just heading to the kitchen anyway.”
Yvonne shot Titus a look, but he was totally indifferent, so she just muttered a quick “thanks” and sat down, feeling awkward.
Yvonne was on edge in a way she’d never experienced before. It felt even more unbearable than the grueling conditions she was in on the film sets, and a fine layer of sweat clung to her skin
Chiara glanced at everyone and said quietly, “You guys chat. I’ll go see how things are coming along in the kitchen.” With that, she turned and walked off, barely reacting to Titus and Yvonne showing up, as if their arrival didn’t faze her one bit.
As soon as Chiara left, Charlie went off. “Are you out of your mind? Why the hell did you bring her here, trying to piss us off or what? And you, who told you to show up? What are you even doing here? Can’t you tell nobody wants you around?”
Yvonne was stunned; she never thought it would blow up like this. Titus finally looked away from Chiara and said deadpan, “You all get to have your family fun, but I can’t?” Then he looked over at the little guy, who was staring back at him with wide, curious eyes.
Titus’s gaze unconsciously softened, and he beckoned the boy over with a gentle wave. Ryan immediately started wriggling, trying to get down from Adele’s lap.
Adele had no choice but to carefully set him down. “Easy there, sweetie, don’t fall.”
Once he was on the floor, he wobbled over to Titus and threw himself at his legs. Then he burst into giggles, laughing uncontrollably.
Titus’s heart just melted at sight. He scooped Ryan up and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. The Goodman family just stared at the scene; nobody said a word for a few seconds. For a moment, everyone was caught up in a mess of mixed feelings.
The same unspoken regret settled over all of them, a quiet acknowledgment that everything might have been different if events hadn’t unraveled the way they once did.
Adele shot Yvonne a glare. “Ms. Watson, this is the first time we’r meeting, and you just barged into my daughter-in-law’s place like this? Isn’t that a bit much?”
Yvonne instantly panicked, thinking, ‘It’s not even my fault! I semously had no clue we were coming to the Lynch residence, or that the whole Goodman family would be here. If I’d known, would’ve never come along!”
“I-I’m really sorry, I didn’t think it through. I was just tagging along with Titus to visit the kid. I honestly had no idea…” Yvonne stammered, her voice shaky.
“You come to see my grandson, and on your very first visit to my daughter-in-law’s house, you show up empty-handed?” Adele didn’t bother sugarcoating it at all.
Yvonne flushed, mortified, and stared at the floor. She shot Titus pleading look, hoping he’d bail her out. Titus said coolly, “There’s no need to single her out. She didn’t know about any of his beforehand.”
Yvonne’s eyes stung with tears when she heard him speak up for her, and she nodded quickly, unable to stop herself.
