When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 178

Chapter 178

Not knowing what was going on, Eunice grabbed Chiara’s arm and dragged her toward the elevator. “What’s going on?” Chiara asked.

“I’ll tell you once we’re in the car,” Eunice replied.

Wayne was just about to catch up with the two women when Titus’s icy voice cut through the air, stopping him in his tracks. “The Pierce Group has made some impressive gains these past couple of years, Mr. Pierce. Maybe success has given you a selective memory. Did you forget the warning I gave you before?” Titus said.

Wayne turned to face him. “Mr. Goodman, I don’t recall ever ignoring your advice.” And that was true. Ever since that night at the bar, Wayne hadn’t had any contact with Chiara at all.

“Mr. Goodman, you’re not her husband anymore. I don’t need your approval to see her, do I?” Wayne replied.

Titus narrowed his eyes, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. Wayne met his gaze in silence.

“You don’t need my permission, but you’ll have to get my son’s approval first,” Titus said.

Wayne was taken aback. “Son?”

Titus looked at him with interest, clearly amused by his surprise. “She didn’t tell you she gave birth to my son two years ago?”

Wayne’s face changed; he was clearly caught off guard. He didn’t know, and not many people did. Wayne was stunned for a moment, but quickly pulled himself together. “So what? Loving her means loving everything that comes with her. You don’t need to worry about that, Mr. Goodman.”

Titus just stared at him coldly, while Wayne gave him a courteous nod. “Take your time, Mr. Goodman. We’ll head out now,” Wayne said.

Titus sat alone on the couch, his face somber and his expression giving nothing away. Paul watched as everyone else left, then got out of the car and walked into the restaurant.

After saying their goodbyes at the restaurant entrance, the three of them went their separate ways. Wayne acted like nothing was out of the ordinary.

Once they were in the car, Eunice finally spoke up. “When I got here, I saw Titus with Yvonne.”

Chiara realized she hadn’t seen the actress earlier. “So what?” Chiara asked.

Eunice quickly added, “Yvonne dumped Titus. Her family didn’t want her to be someone’s stepmom!”

Chiara was at a loss for words. She was surprised; she had never seen Yvonne as the type to listen to her parents. Besides, Yvonne clearly had big ambitions, so it made no sense for her to give up so easily.

“Are you sure?” Chiara asked.

“Totally sure! Titus looked like he’d just been hit by a truck, and Yvonne was bawling her eyes out. She was a

total mess…” Eunice replied.

Chiara didn’t believe for a second that Yvonne would break up with Titus just because of Ryan. She’d seemed perfectly put-together at the restaurant that day. ‘So was it what happened last night that really got to her?” Chiara wondered.

She turned to gaze out the window and said lightly, “Whatever’s going on with them has nothing to do with

us.”

Eunice glanced at her. “Looks like you’re really chill about things. Did Wayne really not show any sign that he likes you tonight?”

Chiara shook her head. She wasn’t clueless; she could tell Wayne was into her. But as long as he didn’t bring it up, she was fine with keeping things as they were. Otherwise, she’d have to figure out how to turn him down.

“The Pierce family’s been killing it these past couple of years. Seriously, you never considered it? And I’ve never heard a single rumor about Wayne and any other girl. Is he really staying single just for you? Like, you’re the only one in his heart, and no other woman even stands a chance? Isn’t he, like, hopelessly devoted?” Eunice teased.

Chiara’s heart skipped a beat. “No way,” she said.

“Why not?” Eunice shot back.

Chiara pressed her lips together. She really didn’t want that to be true. If it were, she’d feel way too much pressure, and honestly, it’d just make her super anxious.

“Come on, don’t stress about it. Back when you were totally head over heels for Titus and wouldn’t listen to anyone, you didn’t let it bother you…” Eunice started. Eunice coughed a few times. “If you think about it, Wayne’s been crazy about you for years; his feelings for you aren’t any less than yours were for Titus.”

Chiara frowned a little, leaning her head against the window. “Girl, give it a rest, will you?”

Eunice stuck out her tongue and shrugged. After dropping Chiara off at the Lynch residence, Eunice drove off right away.

When Chiara got home, she saw Ryan wobbling toward her and swept him up in a hug. “Ryan, did you miss Mommy?” Chiara asked.

Ryan planted a big, noisy kiss right on her cheek. Chiara kissed his chubby little face in return. Ryan had grown up with Ana looking after him, so even when Chiara wasn’t home, he never threw a tantrum and always ate his meals with good behaviour.

Feelings between people didn’t just happen; they were built up, little by little.

Chiara sat down on the couch with Ryan in her arms when her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen; it was a message from Wayne. He asked if she’d made it home safe, so she shot back a quick reply.

Chiara recalled what Eunice had said in the car and shook her head. ‘It’s all just guesswork, no point taking it to heart,’ she thought.

Wayne: [Okay, see you Friday.]

Chiara: [You got it, Wayne. See you Friday.]

Just as she was about to put her phone down, another call popped up. The number looked so familiar, yet somehow foreign. She wasn’t surprised Titus had managed to get her new number. Now that she was back in town, it wasn’t exactly hard for him to find it.

She hesitated, staring at the screen for a while before finally picking up. “Hello?” Chiara said.

“You home?” Titus asked.

“Yeah, what’s up?” Chiara replied.

“I need to talk to you,” Titus said,

“Go ahead,” Chiara said.

“You just got back, and you’re already texting Wayne?” Titus said, his tone sharp.

Chiara frowned. “Who I keep in touch with and who I hang out with is up to me. That’s none of your business, is it?”

“Sure, it’s none of my business; unless you’re planning to get my son a new dad. Then I’ve got something to say about it,” Titus snapped.

Chiara gripped her phone tight, pissed off. “Funny, I didn’t say a word when you were out there trying to get my son a stepmom, did I?”
