Chapter 214 Paying Your Father’s Debts
Heather paused, then turned to look at Robyn. She curved her lips in a faint smile. “If I asked, would you actually tell me?”
Robyn fell silent again.
Heather looked away and said flatly, “So why bother asking?”
With that, she reached for the door, but hesitated for a moment and turned to glance at Robyn again.
Robyn was watching her quietly, her expression hard to read.
“Heather?” Robyn called out.
Heather gave a faint smile. “Just call me Ms. Lynch.”
Robyn’s expression shifted slightly, her lips pressed into a thin line as she stayed silent.
“I just want to ask you something. Will you answer me?” Heather said.
Robyn’s gaze flickered, but seeing Heather so composed, she nodded.
“Go ahead,” Robyn said.
“Are you involved with Orson?” Heather asked.
Robyn froze, while Heather watched her with an unusually calm expression, waiting for her answer.
After a few seconds, Robyn shook her head. “No.”
Heather nodded. “Okay.”
With that, she pushed open the door and walked in. The villa had a real romantic vibe to it.
She wasn’t in her usual business attire today, just a white shirt and a laid-back outfit, her hair pulled back with a silk scarf.
As soon as she stepped inside, she saw Kason lounging on the sofa.
Heather paused at the doorway, quietly watching him. Robyn followed her in, glancing at both of them.
“Ms. Lynch, what would you like to drink? I can get it for you,” Robyn asked.
“No, thanks,” Heather replied.
Robyn definitely noticed how Heather’s attitude toward her had changed.
No matter how close they used to be, Heather always stayed polite.
Whenever she asked Robyn to do something, she’d always thank her for it.
Heather headed straight for Kason.
She’d expected to feel at least a spark of anger when she saw him again, but to her own surprise, all she felt was a strange calmness.
Kason glanced up at her, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Have a seat, Ms. Lynch.”
Heather met his gaze, her expression colder than ever before.
Since they were about to talk, she didn’t bother with any pleasantries and sat down across from him.
After a brief pause, she finally spoke up.
“What do you want?” she asked.
She didn’t ask about the past. All she cared about was what he wanted now.
Kason’s eyes were shadowed as he looked at her. “You’ve lost weight. Not sleeping well these days?”
Hearing his concern, Heather looked up at him. “I’m fine.”
Robyn came over with two glasses of water, glanced at both of them, and sat down next to Kason.
Heather gave them a quick look before turning away, then repeated her question, “What exactly do you two want from me?”
Kason leaned back with a lazy air, crossing his legs, his face impossible to read.
“You’ve already figured it out, haven’t you?” Kason said.
Heather stared at him for a few seconds. “You want me to dig out the truth for you?”
Kason smirked, his expression impossible to read. “You really think I don’t already know what’s going on?”
“Then why are you still pulling my strings?” Heather retorted.

It was like every move she made had been mapped out by him in advance.
Right now, it felt like he’d just been sitting here, waiting for her to show up and start this conversation. That kind of feeling was seriously unnerving, especially for someone who’s always calling the shots.
“You’d only believe it if you saw it for yourself, right? Otherwise, would you really accept that your own parents could be that greedy, that shameless…” Kason said.
Heather’s face grew even icier, her tone more detached.
“Just say it. What do you want from me?” she said.
Kason let out a dry chuckle, cocking his head at her.
“See? I just say it how it is, and you make that face,” Kason teased.
Kason leaned forward, his eyes locked on Heather’s frosty face, the look in them growing deeper and more impossible to
read.
“If I asked you to expose the truth, would you actually do it?” Kason said.
Heather tightened her grip, her breathing grew uneven for a moment, but she quickly pulled herself together.
She locked eyes with him, not looking away for a second. “Do you have the evidence?” Heather asked.
Kason’s face instantly darkened, his eyes going icy and sharp.
Heather smirked, not even sure who she was mocking anymore.
She continued, “If you really had proof, you wouldn’t have let Robyn spend all those years in the finance department without finding anything.
“And you wouldn’t have hung around Lynch Group for so long without actually doing any real damage. But I’m guessing you’ ve got something on Lynch Group, don’t you?”
Kason’s gaze was dark and impossible to read; he just kept his eyes locked on her, saying nothing.
“But you don’t have any proof, so you won’t risk making a move. Is that why you’re trying to use Lynch Group as leverage against me? You want me to give you the evidence, right?” Heather challenged.
Kason stayed silent for a few seconds, then leaned in closer to the sofa, a sly grin spreading across his face.
“Even without hard evidence, public opinion alone could crush you,” he said.
Heather nodded. “Bring it on. Let’s see what you’ve got.”
Kason’s gaze was inscrutable, dark and silent as he watched her.
“So, just because they’re your parents, you’ll defend them no matter what, no matter how far they go?” Kason said. Heather pressed her lips together, staying silent for a few seconds before finally saying, “I choose to believe in them.” “Are you just fooling yourself?” Kason shot back.
Robyn finally spoke up, her voice tight. “Heather, this isn’t just business. This is about lives!”
Heather’s jaw clenched, her face even more rigid. “They’re my parents!”
She couldn’t just hand over the evidence and let her parents’ names be dragged through the dirt, even after they were gone. She just couldn’t do it.
She wasn’t some ruthless investigator who could turn her back on her own flesh and blood.
Robyn stared at her, eyes rimmed with tears. “Back then, one of the workers who died… that was my dad!”
