Chapter 223 I’m Not Keeping It
Heather froze for a moment, her gaze icy as she stared at him.
“Yeah, I’m a clean freak, but when it’s attached to your body, do you think I can control it?” she said.
But to keep him from losing it again, Heather gave him a warning.
“If something like last time happens again, I might just be the real killer. Unless, you’re not afraid of dying,” she said.
Back then, she’d really wanted to kill him. If there’d been a knife within reach, she would’ve stabbed him without hesitation.
Everyone had their limits.
Kason’s eyes grew menacing, his expression turning even darker.
“Do you hate me so much that you actually want to kill me?” he asked.
He knew exactly whether she was just warning him or dead serious.
After all, the scratches on his back still hadn’t fully healed.
She’d even scratched off a piece of skin from his back with her nails.
Heather’s nails hadn’t fully grown back either. The purple marks on her nail beds were even more obvious now, which meant they were finally healing up.
There was that saying: things had to look worse before they got better.
Heather had to admit, that saying really fit her situation.
She was putting everything on the line just to believe her parents weren’t that kind of person.
But if they really were, she wouldn’t regret it either way. No matter what, they were her parents.
They were the ones who loved her most in this world.
Noticing his gaze on her nails, Heather gently closed her hand into a loose fist.
“Are you signing or not?” Heather asked coldly.
Kason’s eyes were dark and unfathomable, and he suddenly gave a cold, mocking smile.
“You really trust them that much? Even after seeing all that evidence?” he asked.
Heather sneered, “So I should trust you people over my own parents? All because of that chopped-up, out-of-context video you’re waving around?”
Kason’s smile slowly faded, his gaze growing shadowed and brooding as he stared at her.
Heather was even more composed and resilient than he’d ever imagined.
Last time, he’d been pissed off by what she said, so he brought another woman over. But he never actually did a threesome or anything like that.
He just wanted to scare her, to knock her down a peg.
Even though she knew she was at a disadvantage and felt guilty toward them, she still kept her pride and acted all superior. Even when he was furious, he knew how far to go. She might’ve looked like she’d been abused, but he hadn’t actually hurt her at all. If he’d really wanted to, she wouldn’t have been able to get out of bed.
Kason picked up the pen, twirling it between his fingers with a smirk before finally stopping.
“I want to add one more condition,” he said.
Heather’s brows furrowed, but she stayed silent, her gaze cold and detached. She was clearly not interested in making any more deals with him.
“Since you trust your so-called perfect parents so much, why don’t we make a bet?” Kason said, his eyes dark and unreadable as he stared at her.
“Let’s bet on what kind of people your parents really are. If you win, I’ll give you all the shares, and I’ll even make it up to you. But if you lose…”
Heather’s eyes flickered. She was starting to feel tempted.
She couldn’t figure out why he was so convinced it was her parents.
‘Is it really just because of that chopped-up video, some account book, and a recording?”
They hadn’t even traced where that account book came from yet.

“What do you want?” Heather asked.
“Same as before. You have my child. That’s how the Lynch family pays for this,” Kason said, his tone cold and uncompromising.
If her parents really were the kind of people he described, and they had truly done something wrong, yet she was still going to have his child, that would really be irritating.
“Doesn’t it gross you out, making me have your kid?” Heather shot back, her voice thick with sarcasm.
Kason curled his lips in a cold, careless smirk. “You’re the one giving birth, not me. Once it’s born, I’m not even keeping it. So, between us, who do you think should feel more grossed out?”
Heather’s face fell, and she could hardly hold back her anger.
‘Does he even care what having a baby is about?’
‘Is it just a tool for revenge to him?’ Heather thought, her anger simmering.
She shot him a cold glare. “You really are shameless.”
Kason didn’t even get mad. He just let out a cold, mocking laugh. “As long as you think your parents are so decent, does it really matter if I have any morals at all?”
With that, he tapped the pen on the coffee table. “So, what’s it going to be? Are you in or not?”
Heather stared at his face. mocking and full of disdain, like he didn’t care about anything.
She had even wondered before whether she had feelings for him.
Kason was watching her too. “Why are you looking at me like that? Are you pissed off?”
Heather broke eye contact, snatched the pen from his hand, and signed her name without a second thought.
“Kason, I’m betting on this. I’m putting my whole life on the line,” she said, her voice steady and unwavering.
As soon as she finished, Chiara burst through the door and witnessed everything.
“Heather!”
Without missing a beat, she went straight for the contract and grabbed it.
After reading it, her face darkened instantly. She clutched the contract tight, glaring at Kason, who looked totally unbothered.
“Mr. Bradford, that’s enough! You’re way out of line!” Chiara snapped, her voice brimming with anger.
Kason glanced up at her, arms crossed over his chest, then shifted his gaze back to Heather.
“Mrs. Goodman. oh, wait, I mean your sister, hasn’t seen that video yet, has she?” Kason said, his voice laced with sarcasm.
Chiara knew exactly which video he meant, and her eyes flickered.
“Who can even say if that video of yours is real or just some fake?” Chiara snapped.
Kason just scoffed, not even wasting his breath on such a ridiculous question.
Titus walked in and drew Chiara to his side, took the contract from her, gave it a quick look, then tossed it back onto the coffee table.
Seeing his actions, Chiara grabbed his arm and demanded, “What are you doing?”
Titus shot her a reassuring glance before turning his attention back to Kason.
