Chapter 240 Trick Her Again

Chapter 240 Trick Her Again

When Titus stepped out, he didn’t see Chiara anywhere. All he found was her bathrobe draped over the wooden bench by the door.

Chiara hurried away, but she had no idea where to go.

It was her first time here, and she didn’t even know where her room was.

She wandered aimlessly until she found a lounge area and sat down on the couch, the voices of the two men from earlier still ringing in her ears.

‘Elaine killed Serenity, and their parents too, all because she was in love with Titus? Could jealousy really make someone so cruel that they’d murder their own family?’ Chiara thought, her mind reeling.

Just thinking about it sent a chill down her spine.

She couldn’t help but rub her trembling arms.

‘So he just came right out and said it. He never had feelings for Serenity, but still ended up with her anyway… Chiara thought.

‘Why would he do that?’ Chiara couldn’t help but ask herself.

Deep down, Chiara already knew the answer.

‘So why did Titus suddenly bring up Serenity at the amusement park today? Was it because Adele had also guessed the real reason they were together? Just like what I’m thinking right now?’ she couldn’t help but ask herself.

When Titus came looking for her, he saw Chiara sitting on the couch, lost in her own thoughts. He stood quietly at a distance, just watching her for a moment.

Even after a few minutes, she was still spaced out, so he finally made his way over to her.

“What are you doing here?” Titus asked.

Chiara snapped out of her daze when she heard his voice, turning to look at him.

But her eyes stayed on him a bit too long.

She didn’t even notice it herself.

Titus was watching her too, more like keeping a close eye on her. He knew she’d been outside earlier, so he was sure she’d caught every word of that conversation.

He really wanted to know what she was thinking right now.

He never gave a damn about anyone else’s thoughts, but Chiara was different. She was the only one whose feelings actually mattered to him. He needed to know what was on her mind.

“What’s wrong?” he asked softly.

Chiara came back to herself and turned toward him. She stood up from the couch, looked around a bit lost, and said,

“I can’t find my room. Do you know where it is?”

“Of course, let me take you,” Titus said.

Chiara walked beside him as he led her to her room.

“Thanks. I’ll get some rest now,” she said, about to go in, but Titus gently grabbed her wrist before she could open the door.

Chiara glanced at her wrist, then looked up at him.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

Titus had been hoping she’d say something the whole walk, but she stayed silent, so he had no choice but to reach out and stop her.

His gaze was so intense and unfathomable, it was impossible to tell what he was thinking as he locked his eyes on her.

“Don’t you have anything you want to ask me?” he said.

Chiara’s heart skipped a beat. Seeing that mysterious, unreadable expression on his face, she instantly knew he must’ve realized she’d been outside and heard everything.

Chiara looked down, her lips tightening, and after anomen

he head.

“No,” Chiara replied.

Successfully unlocked!

She told herself it wasn’t her business, so she kept quiet.

After saying that, Chiara glanced up at him again, Catching the tense set of his jaw, she slipped her hand free and moved to step into the room.

But as soon as she opened the door and walked in, Titus came in right after her, shutting the door behind him with a quick flick of his wrist.

Chiara instinctively stepped back, her brows furrowing as she stared at him. “What are you doing?”

Titus fixed her with a dark, intense stare, his lips pulling into a cold, almost imperceptible line, his voice low and steady “Even if you have nothing to ask, I’ve got something to say,” he said.

Chiara’s brows knitted together. “But I don’t want to hear it. Just go. I’m exhausted. I want to rest!”

She used to want to know everything about him, every single thing.

But now, she’d already decided not to talk about the future with him anymore. There was nothing left between them.

If it weren’t for Ryan, she wouldn’t have anything to do with him at all, not even the slightest emotional connection. One couldn’t just remember the sweet moments and forget all the hard lessons.

First time, second time, maybe they didn’t learn. Third, fourth, that was all on themselves. Honestly, they totally had it coming.

Chiara tried to leave, but Titus stepped in front of the door, blocking her way.

“What do you even want? I already said I don’t want to hear it, alright? Are you seriously going to make me listen?” Chiara snapped.

Titus stared at her for a long time, his gaze intense and unreadable. “But I have to say this. After all these years, you’re the only one I ever wanted to tell.”

Chiara’s heart gave a sudden jolt. She could already guess exactly what he was about to say.

“No, I don’t want to hear it. Titus, get out of my way!” she snapped.

Titus stood there, tall and imposing, blocking the doorway so there was no way for her to get out.

“Remember when I told you about Serenity? You haven’t forgotten, have you?”

Chiara’s face fell. She glared at him, gritting her teeth, her eyes flashing a warning.

“Seriously, what’s your problem? I already told you I don’t want to hear it!” she snapped.

“She was my ex-girlfriend. We dated for about a year…” Titus pressed on.

Chiara’s eyes flashed with rage as she glared at him. “Titus, do you not understand plain English? I said I don’t want to hear it! Get out of my way!”

She reached out, trying to push him aside, even though she knew she was no match for his strength.

Titus pinned her to the door, his hands gripping her shoulders as he suddenly closed the distance between them.

Chiara’s lips snapped shut, her eyes fixed on him, not daring to make a sound.

“What are you…”

“Shh, just listen to me. If you don’t, I’ll kiss you,” Titus said, his voice low and commanding.

Chiara shot back, furious. “Are you threatening me again?”

Titus frowned, retorting, “No.”

“Then let me go,” Chiara demanded.

“I’ll give you a choice,” Titus replied, his voice still firm.

“What choice?” Chiara retorted.

“Just listen to me, or I’ll kiss you,” Titus said, his voice low and full of challenge.

Chiara locked her gaze on him, refusing to back down. “Seriously? That’s your idea of a choice?”

“Choose,” Titus replied.

Chiara glared at him, furious. “Are you nuts? I’m not picking anything! Just let me go!”

“Guess that means you picked the first one,” Titus said.

“You!” Chiara snapped, her voice full of frustration.

“I wasn’t with Serenity because I loved her…” Titus said, his eyes searching Chiara’s face for any sign of emotion.

But Chiara’s face stayed blank. She’d heard it all before. What was she supposed to feel now?

“That’s got nothing to do with me!” Chiara shot back, unable to shut him up, so she just kept her tone icy.

“She pursued me rêlentlessly for almost two years…” Titus said.
