When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 242

Chapter 2421 Love You

Chapter 242 I Love You

“I’ve figured it out,” Titus said.

‘Figured it out? What exactly did he figure out?’ she asked herself.

“I finally understand why I didn’t treasure you when I had you. Maybe it was because I thought winning your heart was too easy, so I never truly valued you,” Titus admitted.

Chiara’s eyes flickered, but she looked away, avoiding his eyes.

“That’s why it took the possibility of losing you for me to realize just how much you mean to me. Only after you left did I finally understand what love really is…” Titus continued.

Chiara didn’t want to hear any more of this.

“That’s enough, Titus. There’s no point in saying all this now. Just leave. I really need to rest,” she said.

Titus’s eyes were as deep as the ocean as he looked at her, pressing his lips together in a low, quiet voice.

“You’re the one who showed me what love truly means,” he murmured.

Chiara’s brows furrowed slightly as she turned to face him, her gaze steady and unflinching.

“I said I need to rest!” her voice firm.

Titus stared at her for a few seconds, his eyes dark and unreadable, before he reluctantly released her shoulders.

Chiara moved away from him without hesitation.

“Just go. I need to rest,” she said, her tone cool and distant.

She stood by the bed, her eyes lingering on his tall, straight back as she spoke softly.

Finally, Titus turned to look at her, the space between them feeling both close and impossibly far.

Chiara shifted her gaze, not wanting to look at him anymore.

Then, in a low voice, Titus said, “Even if you don’t want to hear it, there’s something I still need to say.”

Chiara felt her chest tighten. She pointed at the door behind him. “I already told you I don’t want to hear it. I’m asking you to leave, right now!”

But Titus just stared at her, his eyes shadowed and unreadable. He looked calm, but you could tell there was a whole mess of feelings swirling beneath that cool surface.

“Chiara…” Titus murmured.

Chiara’s eyes locked onto him, a silent warning not to say another word.

Titus’s face was shadowed, his eyes stormy and intense, never leaving hers for a second.

“I love you,” he finally said.

Hearing Titus say “I love you” finally made Chiara snap. She couldn’t hold back her anger anymore.

“Get out. Now!” she snapped.

Titus’s eyes grew even darker, bottomless. Facing her fury, he just said in a low, steady voice, “I know I have no right, but I still wanted you to know. Try to get some sleep. Goodnight.”

With one last, lingering look, he turned and walked out of the room.

Chiara stood there for a long moment, jaw clenched, before she finally spat out, “You’re insane!”

She turned and let herself fall back onto the bed.

‘Seriously? He has the nerve to say he loves me now? Does he really think I give a damn? No way, I don’t want it. His love is just way too heavy, way too complicated. Let someone else have it, she scoffed to herself.

After she managed to calm down, Chiara sat up in bed. She was still wearing her bathrobe and swimsuit. Her own clothes were still in the changing room.

She stayed there for a while, maybe five or six minutes, before she finally decided to go get her clothes.

Before heading out, she made sure to remember her room number and went to grab her clothes from the changing room.

She was halfway through changing when she!

realized it was array Jeffrey’s girlfriend.

“Chiara, why are you only just changing now?” the girl asked casually.

Chiara just nodded. “I got lost.”

“Right? This place is huge. It’s my first time here too. I wonder if I’ll ever get to come back with Jeffrey,” the girl said.

Chiara just glanced at her, not saying anything.

“They’re doing a trial run next month, so if you wanna come, just drop by whenever,” Chiara said.

The girl paused, then nodded. “Yeah, guess I can still come hang out with my friends.”

Chiara nodded at her. “Take your time changing, I’ll head out now.”

“Okay,” the girl replied.

But as she turned the corner, she saw Jeffrey by the window, smoking next to the trash can.

It was the only way through. Chiara had no choice but to pass by him, even if she wanted to pretend he wasn’t there.

She hesitated for a few seconds, then walked over.

Hearing footsteps, Jeffrey turned to look, assuming it was his girlfriend.

But when he saw it was Chiara, his gaze grew a little colder.

Chiara walked right into his line of sight. Normally, she wouldn’t care, but for some reason, she felt a little awkward now. She just nodded at him, not bothering to greet him.

After saying hi, Chiara was about to leave when Jeffrey suddenly called out to her.

“Did you hear everything just now?” he asked.

Chiara’s heart skipped a beat. She turned to face him.

She pressed her lips together, thinking, ‘Wait, so both of these guys knew I was standing right outside? Didn’t even try to keep it quiet? Were they actually trying to make sure I heard everything?’

After a few seconds of silence, she finally said softly, “Sorry.”

Jeffrey gave a wry smile, flicked his cigarette butt into the trash, and then looked at her.

“So, hearing him admit he never loved his ex. Does that make you happy?” he asked.

Chiara had no idea why he’d ask that. ‘Does he really think I should be happy about that?’ she wondered.

She couldn’t help but feel some goodwill toward Jeffrey. Whether Titus was the one who ended up benefiting from that drunken night or not, it was Jeffrey who stepped in at the right moment and helped her out.

If he hadn’t shown up, or if he’d been even a little late, things could’ve gone really bad.

“Not really,” Chiara replied.

Jeffrey’s gaze was intense, impossible to read. “He’s only ever cared about you. I figured that’d make you happy.”

‘Was I really the only one in Titus’s heart?’ Chiara wondered.

She honestly didn’t know. Even if that was true, it just wasn’t worth it.

Honestly, she’d rather he never had feelings for her in the first place.

“I’m sorry about what happened with Serenity,” Chiara said softly.

She could almost empathize with her, feeling a kind of shared sorrow between them.

Jeffrey let out a soft laugh, looking at her. “What’s there to be sorry about? Titus only has eyes for you now. In the end, you’ re the real winner here.”

“Am I the winner?” Chiara asked quietly, her voice sincere, as if she truly wanted to know.

Jeffrey looked at her, calm as ever. “When you look at it that way, you are.”

Honestly, Chiara guessed she was still kind of lucky. Her family hadn’t been completely destroyed, not like some people who’d lost everything.

But even knowing that, would it really change how things turned out?

She didn’t have an answer. Getting tangled up with Titus meant she got Ryan, but it also meant losing her grandpa.
