When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 42

**TITLE: Silent Roads Remember by Sawyer**

**Chapter 42**

Chiara stirred awake, a peculiar sensation washing over her. As her eyes fluttered open, she turned her gaze toward the nightstand, where a familiar tube of ointment lay innocently.

A cool, almost comforting sensation lingered in her intimate area, a silent reminder that Titus had likely attended to her needs with that very ointment. The thought sent a shiver through her, a mix of gratitude and something else she couldn’t quite place.

With a deep inhale, she decisively shoved the tube into the drawer, her mind racing as she stormed into the bathroom. Her expression was a mask of cold indifference, hiding the turmoil beneath.

At the office, Chiara found herself enveloped in a whirlwind of meetings with Heather, the hours stretching on as they delved into the intricacies of the Lynch Group’s current standing. After spending these past few days immersed in the company’s affairs, she had a clearer picture of its trajectory.

While it was true that the Lynch Group was no longer the formidable titan it once was, it had certainly improved from the depths of despair it had faced three years prior. Yet, despite the progress, it was painfully evident that the company struggled to reclaim its foothold within Halinston’s elite social circles.

“Heather, I just heard Eunice is back in town. Are you free tonight? Shall we have dinner together?” Chiara inquired, a glimmer of excitement flickering within her.

“Absolutely! I don’t have any plans for tonight. Let Eunice know I’ll host a welcoming dinner for her,” Heather replied, her enthusiasm infectious.

Chiara’s lips curled into a smile. “Perfect! I’ll get back to work then.”

As evening descended, Eunice arrived punctually outside the imposing facade of Lynch Tower.

Draped in a striking red bodycon dress, her hair cascaded in wild curls, and her lips were painted a bold crimson. She struck a pose against her sleek sports car, effortlessly drawing the attention of passing employees.

“Heather! Chiara! Over here!” Eunice called out, her voice ringing with excitement.

Chiara waved back, her heart lifting at the sight of her friend, while Heather chuckled, shaking her head in amusement.

“She hasn’t changed a bit,” Heather remarked, her eyes sparkling with nostalgia.

“Did you two miss me? It’s been two long years!” Eunice teased, her grin widening.

Heather laughed, giving Eunice a friendly nudge. “Missed you indeed! What’s on your mind for dinner? Pick anything, it’s on me tonight.”

Eunice shot a quick glance at Chiara, a playful glint in her eyes. “How about we do something more exciting? I heard there’s a brand-new club in Halinston. Let’s hit that instead and have some fun!”

Heather, familiar with the club’s reputation, nodded enthusiastically. “Sounds like a plan. Let’s go for it!”

“Yay! Let’s get moving!” Eunice cheered, her energy infectious.

At that moment, a voice broke through the air, calling out, “Ms. Lynch, Chiara.”

They turned to see Wayne stepping out of his car, a contract in hand, his smile warm and inviting.

Heather’s face lit up as she greeted him. “Mr. Pierce!”

“Wayne,” Chiara added, offering a friendly nod.

Eunice squinted at Wayne, her curiosity piqued, until he broke the silence, his recognition evident.

“Hey, Eunice! Long time, no see, huh?” Wayne said, his tone light.

Eunice’s eyes widened in recognition. “Wait, Wayne? Is that you?”

He chuckled, nodding. “Yep, it’s me. Glad you still remember.”

Eunice took a moment to assess him from head to toe, a playful smile creeping onto her lips. “Honestly, who could forget a handsome guy like you? You’re looking even better, Wayne. What brings you here?”

He waved the documents in his hand, a casual gesture. “Just delivering some papers to Ms. Lynch. What are you all up to?”

“We’re off to dinner. Care to join us?” Eunice offered, her tone inviting.

Chiara exchanged glances with Heather, who took the initiative to extend the invitation.

“Mr. Pierce, if it’s not too much trouble, why not join us?” Heather suggested.

Eunice, ever the socialite, linked her arm with Chiara’s and beamed. “Come on, Wayne. We’re all friends here, right? The more, the merrier! Would you do us the honor of joining my welcome dinner?”

Wayne’s gaze flitted among them, lingering on Chiara for a moment before he graced her with a subtle, knowing smile.

“How could I possibly refuse? Thank you for the invite, Eunice. It would be my pleasure to join you all,” he replied, his tone genuine.

“Alright then, let’s roll!” Eunice exclaimed, her excitement palpable.

Upon arriving at the club, Eunice opted against a private room, instead claiming a cozy corner booth for their gathering. They settled in, eager to start the night with some snacks.

“Chiara, have you ever been here before?” Eunice asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Chiara surveyed the vibrant atmosphere, shaking her head. “Nope, not once.”

“What? This place is a hotspot! I can’t believe you’ve never experienced it,” Eunice exclaimed, her surprise evident.

Chiara simply smiled, her demeanor calm.

Eunice clicked her tongue, shaking her head in mock disapproval. “I bet your life has been lacking excitement since I left. But now that I’m back, say goodbye to dull nights!”

Chiara took a sip of her juice, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes.

Meanwhile, Heather engaged Wayne in conversation about the contract, their voices blending into the lively ambiance around them.

Chiara stared at the dress, her lips twitching in uncertainty. “Isn’t this a bit too revealing?”

“Revealing? Please! What century do you think this is? Just put it on already!” Eunice retorted, her enthusiasm unyielding.

“But I…” Chiara hesitated, her confidence wavering.

“Unless you want me to help you change?” Eunice joked, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

Chiara was left speechless, unsure of how to respond.

“Do I really have to?” Chiara groaned, her reluctance evident.

“Yes, no excuses,” Eunice insisted, her determination unwavering.

Seeing Eunice’s resolve, Chiara finally relented, glancing at the dress before heading into the changing stall.

“There’s an invisible bra in there, too,” Eunice called out, her voice cheerful.

“Alright…” Chiara muttered, resigned to her fate.

When Chiara finally emerged, Eunice couldn’t help but let out an appreciative whistle.

Chiara shot her a mock glare, the corners of her mouth twitching in amusement.

Eunice grinned widely, pulling her toward the mirror and letting her hair down, giving it a quick tousle.

“Let me add a touch of makeup for you,” Eunice said, her excitement palpable.

Chiara sighed, thinking, ‘Whatever makes her happy.’

Eunice worked her magic, applying makeup with expert precision in just a few swift movements.

“There we go! My sweetie really is a stunner—born beautiful. Now, let’s hit it!” Eunice declared, her voice brimming with enthusiasm.

Chiara turned to the mirror, pursing her newly painted red lips, feeling a mix of awkwardness and intrigue at her transformed appearance.

“Let’s go!” Eunice urged, her energy infectious.

When they returned to the booth, Heather and Wayne had wrapped up their conversation. They turned at the sound of footsteps, curious to see who was approaching.

But as soon as they laid eyes on Chiara, both were momentarily speechless, unable to tear their gazes away. Wayne, in particular, looked utterly captivated, his eyes shining with genuine admiration.

Eunice, catching their stunned reactions, couldn’t resist showing off. She pointed proudly at Chiara and exclaimed, “Well? Isn’t she absolutely stunning?”
