When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 49

**TITLE: Silent Roads Remember by Sawyer**

**Chapter 49**

Elaine’s expression oscillated between an ashen pallor and a furious flush, her emotions a tempest brewing just beneath the surface. Ever since Titus had begun to stand by her side, a protective barrier had formed around her; it had been a long time since anyone had dared to treat her with such blatant disrespect.

Fury ignited within her. “How dare you insult me!” she spat, her voice sharp and unyielding.

Lately, it felt as if the universe conspired against her. Each time she laid eyes on Chiara, with her effortless grace and unapproachable beauty, Elaine’s composure would shatter. The sight of Chiara, so effortlessly perfect, made her feel like a mere shadow in comparison.

Eunice, ever the provocateur, sneered, “So what? You’re just a homewrecker who can’t handle the heat? People like you never get a happy ending. You—”

“Shut up!” Elaine’s voice rang out like a gunshot, and without a second thought, she lunged at Eunice.

Eunice was momentarily taken aback, her mind racing to process the audacity of this woman who dared to throw a punch. But as reality set in, her instincts kicked in, and she retaliated with equal ferocity.

“You shameless bitch! How dare you hit me? Today, I’m going to beat you down and teach you a lesson your parents should have drilled into you long ago!” Eunice roared, the air thick with her rage.

In a heartbeat, the two women were entangled in a chaotic melee, their shouts and curses filling the air like a cacophony. Chiara stood frozen for a moment, her eyes wide with disbelief at the spectacle unfolding before her.

Finally snapping back to reality, Chiara rushed forward, her heart pounding as she desperately tried to intervene. “Eunice, stop it! Let go of her!” she pleaded, her voice laced with urgency.

“Chiara, stay out of this! I swear I’m going to shut this trash up today. Move aside before you get hurt!” Eunice barked, her grip tightening as she spoke.

The scene was a complete disaster, with Chiara flailing in an attempt to separate them, only to be shoved aside with unexpected force. She stumbled backward, disoriented, but before she could hit the ground, strong arms caught her.

“Mr. Yates?” she gasped, looking up in disbelief.

Jeffrey’s gaze met hers, a flicker of concern passing through his eyes. “You okay?” he asked, his tone steady yet soft.

Chiara nodded, her instincts still on high alert as she glanced back at the two women, who were still locked in furious combat. The chaos was enough to make her temples throb painfully.

“They…” she started, struggling to find her words amidst the chaos.

Jeffrey’s brow furrowed as he surveyed the scene, his dislike for such unruly behavior evident. “Break them up,” he instructed, his voice calm yet commanding.

In a flash, restaurant staff rushed over, separating the two combatants with practiced efficiency.

“Listen up, bitch. I’m Eunice Murphy. Burn that name into your memory. Whenever you see me in Halinston, you better get the hell out of my way, or I’ll make sure you regret it every single time!” Eunice spat, her voice dripping with venom.

Elaine’s face was marred with visible claw marks, some so deep that crimson droplets began to trickle down her skin. It was clear that Eunice had not held back in her retaliation; she had aimed to inflict real damage.

As Elaine caught sight of the blood on her face, her complexion paled, and she let out a shrill scream, “Ah! My face!”

A tumult of emotions surged within her—rage, fear, and a deep-seated desire for revenge. She glared at Eunice, wishing she could rip her to shreds right then and there.

But Eunice, ever the fearless warrior, met Elaine’s gaze with a defiant coolness, her expression unyielding. She held her ground, refusing to back down.

Elaine’s trembling hands instinctively sought out Jeffrey, desperate for support. But as she caught his cold, detached stare, a wave of dread washed over her. The realization of how close he was to Chiara sent a shiver down her spine, and her voice faltered.

Chiara, oblivious to the charged atmosphere, was too focused on the fight to notice the proximity between herself and Jeffrey. His hand rested casually on her shoulder, the other resting at her waist, a protective gesture that only added to Elaine’s simmering jealousy.

When Chiara finally noticed Elaine’s intense gaze, she instinctively stepped back, casting a wary glance at Jeffrey. “Thanks,” she said, her voice polite but laced with an unmistakable distance.

Jeffrey turned his attention to Chiara, then nonchalantly slid a hand into his pocket. “I’ve already informed Titus,” he stated, his tone casual.

At that, Elaine’s eyes flickered with a mix of fury and desperation. In an instant, she transformed from a raging storm to a pitiful damsel, her eyes glistening with tears as she played the victim to perfection.

Eunice’s eyes widened in disbelief, her finger jabbing toward Elaine’s face, her attitude brimming with contempt. “Oh, look at you, suddenly a drama queen. You want to put on a show? Let me give you a scene to remember,” Eunice snapped, her voice dripping with disdain.

“Eunice!” Chiara interjected quickly, stepping in to restrain her friend.
