**Silent Roads Remember by Sawyer**
**Chapter 61**
Paul parked the car, his eyes darting around the vicinity, searching for any sign of life. “Queenie mentioned we should meet at the restaurant entrance, but I don’t see anyone around,” he remarked, a hint of frustration creeping into his voice.
Titus, who had been absorbed in the glow of his tablet, finally lifted his gaze and peered out the window. It didn’t take long for him to spot the two figures huddled near the steps. A frown etched itself onto his forehead. “They’re right there on the steps,” he pointed out, his tone unexpectedly serious.
Paul turned his head and immediately caught sight of them. Without wasting a moment, he unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the car. As he approached, the snippets of their conversation floated toward him, piquing his curiosity.
“How did you end things with that cheating jerk?” Chiara asked, her voice laced with disbelief.
Paul blinked, baffled by their discussion. *What on earth are these two talking about?* he mused, feeling a strange mix of concern and intrigue.
“I can’t stand cheaters. Seriously, Chiara, keep your guard up. Don’t let any guy play you for a fool,” Queenie advised, her expression fierce and protective.
Chiara blinked, her eyes narrowing as she sneered slightly. “He didn’t even bother to hide it from me. He was completely upfront about it,” she replied, a bitter edge to her words.
Queenie’s eyes widened in shock. “Wait, what do you mean? Didn’t you say you didn’t have a boyfriend?” she asked, her voice rising slightly with confusion.
Chiara’s frown deepened, annoyance flickering across her face. “Yeah, I’ve never had a boyfriend. Honestly, it’s kind of pathetic, isn’t it? I haven’t even had the chance to experience love,” she admitted, her tone tinged with regret.
Queenie, fully invested in the conversation, nodded in agreement. “That is kind of sad. I thought you dated someone back in college. College is prime time for falling in love,” she said, her enthusiasm momentarily overshadowing Chiara’s melancholy.
Chiara shook her head, a hint of regret surfacing in her demeanor. “Yes, and now I’m starting to wish I had,” she confessed, her voice softening.
“You mean to say you regret not dating anyone back in college?” Queenie asked, her eyebrows raised in surprise.
Chiara made a face, tapping her forehead lightly as if scolding herself. “If I had dated a bit, maybe I wouldn’t be stuck obsessing over just one guy,” she sighed, the weight of her thoughts evident in her expression.
Queenie’s eyes sparkled with intrigue as she leaned closer. “You’ve never dated anyone, but there’s someone you like, right? Come on, spill the tea!” she urged, her excitement bubbling over. Queenie considered herself somewhat of a dating expert; her past relationships could be counted on one hand.
For a moment, Chiara seemed lost in thought, staring blankly at Queenie before finally nodding vigorously. “Yes,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

Meanwhile, inside the car, Titus’s expression shifted to one of deep contemplation as he observed Chiara, who looked utterly defeated at that moment.
Paul lingered nearby, feeling a twinge of anxiety as he shot nervous glances at Titus. *It seems like someone’s trying to eavesdrop. Please, God, don’t let them spill everything they’re thinking; one wrong word and this could spiral out of control,* he thought, anxiety tightening his chest.
Just then, Chiara’s voice broke through his thoughts. “I used to,” she said quietly, almost as if she were confessing a secret.
Queenie leaned in, her curiosity piqued. “What about now?” she asked, her tone encouraging.
Chiara paused, contemplating her feelings before responding, “Not anymore.”
Queenie’s heart went out to her friend as she noticed the unmistakable signs of heartbreak etched on Chiara’s face. She gently placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Don’t be so down. If you’re looking to date, I know a ton of cute guys,” she offered, her voice warm and reassuring.
“But if you’re after marriage, well, I might not be much help. However, if you’re in the mood for some exciting romance, I’m totally your biggest fan,” Queenie added, her enthusiasm infectious.
Titus sat in the car, a scowl forming as he shot a frosty glare at Queenie. Despite having worked with her for over two years, her words caught him off guard. Her youthful, almost innocent demeanor seemed at odds with the boldness of her advice.
Paul felt a knot of tension in his stomach as he listened in, a sense of protectiveness washing over him for Queenie.
Noticing that Queenie appeared ready to launch into another round of romantic wisdom, he quickly cleared his throat, breaking the moment. “Queenie, what are you two doing here? I almost didn’t see you,” Paul said, his voice steady but tinged with urgency.
Queenie spun around at the sound of his voice, her face lighting up. “Hello, Paul!” she exclaimed, a smile breaking across her features.
Paul met her gaze with a knowing look. “Queenie, could you help Chiara up for me?” he requested, his tone firm yet gentle.
“Of course!” Queenie replied, eager to assist. She helped Chiara to her feet, chatting amiably as she did. “So, Chiara, did you actually take my advice to heart?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with hope.
