When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 62

**TITLE: Silent Roads Remember by Sawyer**
**Chapter 62**

Titus had finally come to a startling realization about Chiara—her sharp tongue and fierce demeanor were more than mere quirks; they were weapons she wielded with precision. He had even woken up on several occasions to find tiny bite marks adorning his shoulder, a testament to her playful ferocity. A dark cloud passed over his face as he commanded, “Let go.”

Chiara fixed him with a glare, her eyes wide and glistening, the corners reddened from a mix of frustration and emotion.

Titus felt his stern facade begin to crumble. He pressed his lips together, his tone softening as he coaxed her gently, “Come on, be good and let go.”

For a moment, Chiara hesitated, her eyes flickering with uncertainty. The discomfort in her teeth was becoming unbearable, and with a reluctant sigh, she finally released her grip.

Titus glanced down at the neat row of bite marks etched into his palm, clicked his tongue in mock disapproval, and raised an eyebrow at her. “So, it seems you only respond to sweet persuasion, huh?” he teased.

Chiara looked up at him, still a touch dazed, and replied with a hint of mischief, “You bet.”

Titus was momentarily left without words, caught off guard by her candidness.

Nearby, Queenie and Paul, who had been silent witnesses to the entire exchange, stood utterly dumbfounded.

With a gentle hand, Titus lifted Chiara’s chin, nudged her slightly to the side, and settled in next to her. He quickly shut the car door, ensuring that no prying eyes could invade their moment of vulnerability.

Queenie stood frozen, her mind racing in disbelief. *What on earth did I just witness?* she thought, her thoughts swirling like a tempest.

Paul shot a glance at the shell-shocked Queenie, shook his head in disbelief, and without sparing her another look, hurried to the driver’s seat.

As the car slowly drove out of sight, Queenie felt the need to pinch her own leg, desperate to confirm she wasn’t caught in a bizarre dream. “Ow, that actually hurts!” she exclaimed, her voice rising in astonishment.

*Holy crap, this isn’t a dream? That means I really saw all that unfold!* Queenie’s mind was a chaotic jumble. *What in the world is going on between those two?*

Her expression was blank, but inside, a storm was brewing.

As the car pulled away, Chiara felt a wave of lightheadedness wash over her. She leaned against Titus’s shoulder, her eyelids growing heavy with exhaustion.

Paul glanced into the rearview mirror, hesitating for a moment. “Mr. Goodman, regarding Queenie, should we—”

“Mm,” Titus hummed softly, his attention fully absorbed in tracing the delicate contours of Chiara’s fingers in his palm.

Chiara remained silent throughout the ride back, curled up against him as if she had succumbed to the depths of sleep.

With no other option left, Titus gently scooped her up into his arms, cradling her as he carried her straight into the villa.

Paul watched them disappear inside, then reluctantly climbed back into the car. He pulled out his phone, which was buzzing incessantly with messages from Queenie.

A wry smile crept across his face as he opened WhatsApp, scrolling through a barrage of bizarre memes she had sent. He decided to give her a call.

“Hello, Paul?” Queenie answered almost immediately, her voice tinged with a slight tremor.

Paul sighed, “Don’t tell anyone about what happened tonight.”

There was a pause on the other end before Queenie finally ventured, “So, can you tell me what exactly is going on between those two? Is it something they have to keep hidden, or—”

“Don’t jump to wild conclusions,” Paul interrupted, sensing her spiraling thoughts. After a moment, he added, “Chiara is Mrs. Goodman—his actual, legal wife. They got their marriage certificate three years ago.”

Silence enveloped Queenie on the other end, as if the weight of his words had rendered her speechless.

“Hey, Queenie? Are you listening?” Paul called out, concern creeping into his voice. “Queenie?” he tried again, growing anxious.

After what felt like an eternity, her voice finally emerged, faint and shaky, as if she were grappling with the reality of the situation. “Yes. So… they’re actually married? Like, legally married?” she stammered, her disbelief palpable.

Paul let out a sigh of relief. “What else did you think?”

“Oh my God!” Queenie blurted out, her voice bursting with shock.

Paul understood her reaction all too well. He felt an odd sense of relief himself; at last, he wasn’t the only one privy to this secret. “You see what I mean now, right?” he asked.

“Crystal clear, totally. The whole secret marriage thing, got it. Don’t worry, Paul—just tell Mr. Goodman I won’t spill a word, promise!” Queenie assured him, her excitement bubbling over.

“That’s good to hear. But even though you know now, don’t act all obvious about it at the office,” Paul cautioned.

“Say no more, Paul! I know the drill,” Queenie replied, her confidence returning.
