Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 28

Sloane froze.

She was definitely not the type to act cute or flirt in her daily life.

"I guess all men like women who act sweet and helpless, right? No wonder they say flirtatious women have it the easiest."

"Not exactly." Logan dropped another piece of fish onto her plate.

He met her gaze steadily. "I only like it when you do it with me."

"..." Sloane's face flushed a deep crimson, the heat rushing all the way to the tips of her ears.

Right on cue, both of their Bio-Bond Bands buzzed wildly.

[Listen up! In the last three hours, your heart skipped a beat for him THREE times, and he lost his mind over you THREE times! Stop fighting the chemistry! It's practically fireworks over here! Just tear down the walls and get together already! What are you waiting for?!]

Sloane's face burned even hotter as she read the invasive alert.

She quickly tried to rationalize it. "The band must have recorded our vitals during the immersive game, right?"

Logan glanced at his own screen and agreed. "Probably."

"You were playing a very charismatic character, and I was trying to stay in the zone, so obviously my heart rate was going to spike a bit," Sloane analyzed defensively.

"Thank you. You looked incredible in there too, and when you flirted with me, I might have lost a bit of my composure as well."

"..." Sloane nearly dropped her fork. She quickly deflected, "The Global Fertility Association always exaggerates the data to push their agendas anyway, right?"

"Absolutely."

With that settled, both of them ducked their heads and aggressively focused on their food.

Sloane had started out with no appetite, but ended up eating until she was stuffed.

As they strolled through the mall to walk off the meal, they passed a designer boutique. A stunning blue dress caught her eye.

It was the exact shade of a cloudless summer sky.

She loved it instantly.

But with Logan standing right next to her, she felt too awkward to walk in and browse.

Logan, however, seemed to read her mind. "Want to go in and take a look?"
