Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 33

Before bed, Logan started doing sit-ups.

Because of his massive frame, the small bed frame creaked in protest with every movement.

After banging out two hundred reps, exhaustion finally set in, and he drifted into a hazy sleep.

However, not long after he fell asleep, a blinding pain pierced through his skull.

He instinctively clutched his head.

Every time the migraines hit, flashes of memories tore through his vision.

Over a dozen men trying to force one man to his knees.

But the man refused. He would rather die than kneel.

So they shattered his legs, breaking the bones completely. He bit down on his teeth through the agonizing pain, but still, he refused to kneel.

They beat him into the ground, raining kicks and punches down on his back. Then, they stabbed him, burned him with cigarettes, and tortured him until he was barely breathing. Finally, one of them grabbed him by the hair and slashed his throat!

Blood splattered everywhere!

"No!"

Logan jolted awake in a cold sweat.

Sitting up in bed, the pounding in his head worsened.

He buried his face in his hands, letting out a low, muffled groan.

These phantom memories had tortured him for years.

Yet he had been running around like a headless chicken, completely unable to track down the men responsible, and had nearly lost his own life in the process.

Every time he thought about it, a suffocating wave of despair washed over him.

Just as the pain peaked, his bedroom door suddenly opened.

Logan turned his head slowly.

He saw Sloane walking in, dressed in her pajamas.

Did she know he was having another migraine attack?

Thinking of how soothing her massages had been the last two times, Logan felt his turbulent emotions settle slightly.

He welcomed her presence.

But then, he noticed something was off about her.

Though Sloane usually carried herself with a calm, unbothered grace, she was always highly alert and professional around patients.

Right now, however, her movements were incredibly stiff.

She walked as if she were being pushed forward by a ghost.

She was sleepwalking!

Logan didn't dare make a sound, choosing to just watch her quietly.

In the darkness, Sloane blindly fumbled her way over to his bed.

She lay down right next to him, pressing against his side and reaching out to touch his face.
