CHAPTER 17
Amelia
With great help and support from Sophia and Michael, I slowly manage to adjust to life in Deadfang pack and find my rhythm around here.
The work at the hospital surely helps a lot too – I’ve found a purpose for myself and everyone looks at me with gratitude and respect, not disdain.
Living here has proved how much things in life truly matter. I’ve been conditioned to such a poor attitude
trying either because for once, I’m enjoying my life.
I’m trying, though. And I Wo. Of that
getting used to kindness is rather tricky.
Another great aspect is that Nina, the girl I managed to save after the blackhead bite, often comes over to talk, laugh and just spend time together. She always brings a sense of ease with her, yet for the most part, I hide my Ravencrest identity.
It’s more than enough that Michael and Alpha Ethan knows where I come from, I don’t want the rest of the pack to know. After all, their attitude towards me could switch completely if they were to find out that I’m someone from the enemy pack.
And this thought brings me to Alpha Ethan… He’s…
“Dreamy,” my wolf purrs before I manage to finish the thought. Of course she’d think like that – Ethan is a strong and very capable Alpha, a weakness for many women.
“Stop,” I grumble to my wolf and chuckle, filling another cup with coffee.
As I was saying. Ethan is, I’d dare to say, special. He’s attentive, caring, considerate and not only does he praise the work I do at the hospital, but he goes around boasting about my cooking skills. In short, he’s doing everything I once dreamed Logan would.
Grabbing the cup, I intend to walk back to my room, but one of the guards stops me. “Hey, Amelia? Alpha is asking for you to join him in the office if you’re not too busy.”
I smile at him and nod, “I’m not busy. I’ll be there right away.”
“Thanks,” he says and beams, then before he leaves the kitchen, he adds, “by the way, Alpha was right. I got a chance to try the stew you made today, you’ll have to share the recipe with my mate, it’s literally the best thing I’ve ever tasted.”
And that, right there, is yet another proof of how kind and friendly the pack is. Ethan didn’t lie when he told me that the pack is a family when I first arrived to seek asylum.
I walk out of the kitchen still sipping coffee and slowly head towards Ethan’s office. When I reach the door, about to knock, I hear him call out, “come in, Amelia, no need to knock.”
As I push open the door, I instantly notice Beta Joey standing near Ethan and put two and two together – they’re holding a security meeting.

“I was told you were asking for me, Alpha,” I say politely and quickly add, “I can come later. I don’t want to disrupt the meeting.”
Ethan shakes his head and waves me inside. “Nonsense, there’s no need for you to leave. One, I did send the guard after you and two, you could help us a little bit.”
I agree and close the door after me. I appreciate that Ethan doesn’t have a habit of locking everyone out and instead, tends to listen to different opinions instead of dismissing them.
Back home, as Logan’s Luna, I was never allowed to attend security meetings. No, scratch that, I wasn’t allowed to attend any meetings at all. While it’s common for Luna to be present during those in most packs, Logan insisted his mother, Jane, would handle Luna duties by because she had more experience.
I’m not stupid, his claims were lies to get me off his case. No one in that pack really wanted me around anything serious and the little respect I got was only because most of them thought I was Katherine.
BeBeta Joey pulls out a chair for me and smiles as I sit down. I take small sips of my coffee and
islisten to them speak until some details catch my attention.
“I”I just don’t get what his deal is. Logan has sent troops to attack our border more than once ar and we didn’t retaliate or bring up the issue.” Ethan hisses and runs a hand though his hair in frfrustration.
“So? What are you planning to do? We can’t just sit and let that asshole do as he pleases, he’s ta talking everything too far.” Beta Joey adds, shaking his head in clear disappointment.
“1”I agree,” Ethan groans and sits in the massive office chair. “That’s why I sent that meeting in invitation to him. Honestly, I thought he’d ignore it, but I recently got confirmation about his agagreement to visit so we can discuss a possible truce.”
BeBeta Joey nods and hums. “Sounds good to me. If that’s your decision, you know I’ll s it it.”
I sI still sit silent and try to process their words. Just the thought of Logan visiting Deadfa mme with dread. The possibility of having him close to me again, in the same territory, is nenervewrecking.
SuSuddenly, Ethan turns to me. “Amelia? Do you have any thoughts? Maybe insight or opinion ababout Ravencrest’s possible reactions?”
“MMy apologies, Alpha, but I must admit that I can’t offer anything of use. I never truly fulfilled mmy duties as Luna in that pack, so essentially, I know about them as much as you do. And ththat is not alwhole lot!” admit softly.
Etlithan flashes me an understanding smile and slowly stands up. “That’s fine, don’t worry ababout it.’ Then, he turns to Joey and nods once. Meeting’s over, go get prepared.”
Jotoey flashes me a quick smile and gladly leaves the office, leaving Ethan and I alone.
