Wrong Bride True Luna (Amelia and Logan) novel Chapter 19

CHAPTER 19

Amelia

As much as I dread the next day, eventually it rolls over and I’m forced to get out of the bed.

For the most part of the day, I hide away in my bedroom and sneak out for quick snacks only when I’m completely sure I’m alone in the house

Since Ethan decided to hold the banquet in a building that has a massive hall, most of the pack members are there, getting ready for the evening

Hours thick by slowly and I use them as anyone in my situation would – hiding under the blankets with a pack of chocolate covered raisins hidden under my pillow, having deep, meaningful conversations with my wolf.

Alright, I’m lying, we’re arguing about what’s more exciting to chase – foxes or rabbits.

At one point, both of us get so distracted by the silly arguments that neither notice how fast time passes until there’s a knock at my door.

Startled by the sound, I sit in the bed upright and call out, “come in!”

Sophia pokes her head inside and gives me a disapproving look. “Amelia, why aren’t you getting ready? Alpha sent me to check on you since he hasn’t seen you all day, he’s getting worried and the banquet will start soon.”

“What time is it?” I ask as I kick the blanket off and get out of the bed quickly.

“Calm down, it’s only 5PM, it won’t start for another hour and I’ll stay here to help you get ready,” Sophia assures me, steps inside and closes the door behind her.

A wave of relief washes over me as I let out a heavy breath. Sophia urges me to take a showe so I do, and in the meantime, she makes the bed to have something to do.

The moment I step out of the bathroom, Sophia grabs my hand and makes me sit down in front of the mirror. She combs, dries and fixes my hair first, then quickly does my makeup and helps me into the gown.

Once I’m ready, I stand in front of the mirror and struggle to recognize myself. I truly don’t look like the overlooked, unwanted daughter anymore. Instead of her stands a stunning

woman.

“Goddess, Amelia, you look like a real life Goddess,” Sophia compliments me and fans herself.

“Stop it,” I laugh at her behavior, realizing I can’t stop smiling.

Sophia nudges my side and looks at me in the mirror, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively. ” Alpha doesn’t have a mate, you know.”

I roll my eyes at her obvious hint, but she only keeps going. “I mean, think about it. Our Alpha

has no mate and he’s been extra attentive towards you ever since you arrived at the pack. I honestly believe that he not only has a soft spot for you, but there might be some feelings involved here.”

My cheeks turn bright red as I quickly shake my head. “That’s not what this is, Soph. He’s just very friendly, that’s all. I’m a single mother and I’m sure Ethan is looking out for me only because of Professor Michael.”

Sophia’s grin widens as she winks at me. “Ah-hal, sure, that must be why you’re on a first name basis with the Alpha. Totally just friendly, gotcha.”

Just as I open my mouth to argue, my bedroom door opens and Ethan steps inside. He’s wearing a black suit, which only emphasizes his height and impressive physique.

“Amelia, you look absolutely stunning,” he says without missing a beat, his eyes taking me in slowly.

I flash him a shy smile, which makes Sophia grin ike she’s actively trying to split her face in half. She excuses herself and rushes out, leaving the and Ethan alone.

With a bright smile, Ethan approaches me, offers me his arm and we leave the house together.

When we arrive at the banquet hall, everything is already set up for the guests. I look around and notice the staff waiting, exchanging glances. The dinner is about to start, but Logan and Katherine are nowhere in sight, which makes me even more nervous.

“Hey, give me a moment, I’ll go check the kitchen and if the food is ready to be served,” I whisper to Ethan and he nods in agreement.

I don’t wait around, rush away from the hall and into the kitchen. The Omegas are already plating to food, so I hurry to remind them to avoid foods Logan dislikes.

All of them nod and smile at me – they respect me as Ethan’s guest and thank me for the insight, but when one of the youngest ones questions me how I know so much about a Alpha, I have no other choice but to lie.

“Oh, well,” I say with an awkward laugh and wave them off. “I used to attend the same wo academy as Alpha Logan did and my parents knew him pretty well. He’s a distant acquaintance.”

The Omegas nod and smile at me, buying the story. “Good thing you came by to double check everything and remind us of those details. The day’s been quite hectic, one mistake could cause awful trouble,” the same Omega that questioned me says with a soft smile.

I smile back at her and nod, not wanting to be questioned any further, I mutter, “everything looks great here. Good job ladies, I’ll see you around later, but now, I must join the rest of the guests.”

They all smile at me as I turn to leave the kitchen The moment I push the door open and step into the hall, a strange, irresistibly alluring scent of cedar envelops me.

My breath catches in my throat and I steady myself against the wall as my wolf immediately goes on high alert. She’s snarling and growling my head off, urging me to do something, but I’m so overwhelmed by the scent that I can’t move my body.

I try to pull myself together just as I feel a presence behind me and a familiar, deep voice speaks from behind me, “there you are, Amelia. boks like I finally found you.”
