Wrong Bride True Luna (Amelia and Logan) novel Chapter 5

Amelia

Katherine stands in the living room, in all her glory, grinning at me like she’s been expecting me to return.

I’m not surprised that the moment her eyes find me, she starts mocking me. “Did poor little Amelia decide to come home, hmm? How’s your arm, sister dearest? Does it hurt?”

I try to show no reaction, which only eggs her on to become more nasty with her words. “Does it sting, Amelia? To stand there, and watch Logan save me without showing even a glimpse of worry about your pathetic life?”

Katherine takes a few steps closer and stops in an arms reach from me. “You’re pretty hard headed, aren’t you? How long will it take for you to understand that you’re not welcome here? Nobody likes you, Amelia, nobody cares if you were to drop dead right this moment!”

Obviously, her words get to me. It’s not because she’s great at getting under my skin, it’s because she’s not lying. Deep down, I know that every word that leaves her lips is truthful and she’s not the only one who thinks the same.

Instead of letting her bask in yet another victory, I decide to pretend her words don’t affect me, stand a little taller and speak. “Katherine, I’m still Luna of this pack. Move.”

Katherine’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise, but she doesn’t move. If I can’t move the mountain, I’ll walk around it, so I take a step to the side and she mirrors my movement, hissing, “wait up a second! I told you that you’re not welcome here! I won’t let you step a foot into my house and taint it with your presence more than you already have.”

I part my lips, about to repeat my demand for her to get out of my way, but Katherine catches me completely off guard when she smirks and suddenly slaps herself across the face so forcefully, she drops to the floor.

I freeze, my eyes widen, and look at her as Katherine starts wailing, covering the cheek she just slapped with her hand.

In a matter of seconds, Logan appears out of nowhere, looking furious. He rushes to Katherine and helps her up, glaring at me like I’m the enemy while he wraps his arms around my cunning sister. Katherine instantly presses herself closer to Logan, forcing tears as she hides her face against his chest.

“Amelia!” Logan growls at me so loudly, I jump. He tightens his hold around Katherine and speaks to me with nothing but raw hatred lacing his words. “Are you crazy? Why would you attack your own sister?”

“I didn’t do it!” I scream over his words before he can keep going off at me. “I didn’t slap Katherine, I can’t even raise my arm high enough to slap her! Think, Logan, just think for once and see her lies for what they are!”

As if that’s not enough, Logan straightens up and glares down at me to whisper, “I, Logan Grayson, Alpha of the Ravencrest pack, reject you, Amelia Bennett, as my mate and Luna.”

The pain that shoots through me at his words is nothing I could describe. It grips me so suddenly, keeps me locked under its grip so hard I nearly collapse.

My wolf urges me to stay strong and stand my ground. I meet Logan’s gaze and accept his rejection quietly, not missing the flicker of surprise in his eyes. It’s a short, quick moment, but I still notice it.

Katherine throws a bag at me with a triumphant smile, “take care,” then shoves me towards the door and slams the door behind me, tears stream down my face, but at least I still have my wolf and she too believes that the pack never really deserved us.

No family. No friends. No mate.

My hands shake as I decide to dial a familiar number. It rings only once when the call is answered and I don’t waste a second for pleasantries, “I’ve made the decision, I’m joining the Deadfang pack.”
