Wrong Bride True Luna (Amelia and Logan) novel Chapter 6

CHAPTER 6

Logan

I regret the rejection even before the full sentence leaves my lips and when it’s done, my wolf snarls, scratches and slams his whole body against the mental wall separating our minds.

Mentally, I command my wolf to calm down, we all know how Amelia is. She’s meek, quiet and doesn’t stir trouble, I’m sure she’ll beg for forgiveness and remember her place without a fuss.

However, to my absolute shock, Amelia doesn’t drop to her knees as I expected, No, she simply accepts the rejection.

Amelia must have gone completely insane, that is to be the case,

All this while, I thought she went mad because I protected Katherine yesterday, but in the pack’s eyes, Katherine is my mate and Luna, not Amelia, so she can’t act like she didn’t see this coming.

Amelia should’ve understood me, but instead, she decided the best course of action is to throw a tantrum and attack Katherine. This behavior is something I can’t overlook and forgive, I just

can’t

Everything else happens so fast, barely registert. One moment Amelia looks like she’s experiencing a real heartbreak, the next, Katherine tosses a small bag at her and closes the door.

I take a step towards the door, ready to chase Amelia and remind her she’s overreacted, but Katherine hugs my waist and I freeze. “Much better,” she purrs against my chest.

A part of me wants to ask what she means since I’m still a little stuck on the whole Amelia situation, but as it has always been with Katherine, she manages to explain for me

“I’m your fated mate, Logan, not her. It’s only logical that the fake has to leave the hou Amelia enjoyed my place as Luna for far too long, she was never supposed to stand by yo side in the first place. You agree with me, right?” Katherine looks up at me and blinks, wa for my answer.

I clear my throat and nod once, “Yes, you’re right You are my fated mate and the rightful L of this pack, that’s what the Goddess has always intended.”

I’ve known Kathrine was my mate ever since I caught her rosy scent the moment we first met. She wore a white dress that day, one I never saw again. And even though Katherine’s scent is faint now, I won’t disrespect the choice the Moon Goddess made for us. Every wolf knows that a fated mate is the greatest gift a Goddess can grant and for me, it’s Katherine.

“And yet, here you are, all tall and mighty, rejecting the very gift you just claimed yourself can’t be denied,” my wolf growls from the back of my head.

“Drop it! Katherine is my mate, Amelia has always been nothing but a substitute,” I snap back

at him and instinctively wrap my arms around Katherine to ground myself.

My wolf tries to argue, but I block him out so I don’t have to listen to his constant whining.

After a moment of silence, Katherine speaks again, “Logan, I’m sorry,” she whispers.

“Sorry about what? You don’t have to apologize for this mess, it’s none of your fault,” I try to reassure her as I look down into those beautiful green eyes.

“No, I need to apologize,” she insists.

My eyebrows shoot up and I feel a frown pull at my face, but I decide to indulge her. “Okay, if apologizing makes you feel better, do what you believe you must.”

She takes a deep breath, clears her throat again and speaks. “I want to apologize for leaving the pack when I did. All of this mess is my fault. If it wasn’t for me falling ill and missing our date that evening, none of this would’ve happened and I made it worse by throwing a tantrum and leaving. I was hurt, Logan, deeply so, but I’m willing to look past everything if only you forgive me.

“No,” I force out the word and it sounds rougher than I intend it to be. “Stop apologising for something that isn’t your fault. All this could be avoided if it wasn’t for Amelia. She fooled everyone.”

Katherine nods and presses herself against me even closer. She closes her eyes and lets out a breath of relief as her hold around me tightens like she’s scared to let go.

In a moment of complete silence, I relax and that’s all that my wolf needs to break through the mental barrier and start growling at me. “You fool! You’re standing here, comforting her while Amelia is out there, alone, hurt and broken! Don’t you have a heart?”

“Didn’t I tell you to drop it? Stop pestering me about her!” I retort.

My wolf makes what sounds like a bitter laugh and growls louder. “How you already forgot that one of the rogues got away yesterday? The rest of the pack is aware of the danger while Amelia was in the hospital and she has no idea that the danger still lurks near the borders! We both know Ronan blames her for Eleanor’s death, so he won’t let Amelia return home! Where is she supposed to go now? What if she decides to leave the pack?”

I hate to admit this, but he’s right. If Amelia is foolish enough to try to leave the pack – she will put herself in grave danger.

Irritation shoots through me, I grit my teeth and mind-link Beta Marcel. “Tighten the border security and don’t, under any circumstances, let Amelia leave.”

“Understood, Alpha. But what if she left already? Should I send the scouts to drag her back?” Beta Marcel asks.

“She hasn’t left yet,” I growl at him. “And she won’t either. You’ll make sure of it.”
