Chapter 28 Wedding Dress
“Haha, what a coincidence,” he said, quietly exhaling in relief. “Ready to go?”
“Yeah.”
Chloe nodded.
In the back seat, she scrolled through Instagram, then checked her work messages. When she was done, she went back to scrolling her Instagram feed.
Jane had posted again.
[Finally someone who knows how to treat me right! Unlimited shopping spree today. I love this man!]
Of course.
Chloe liked the post. Her way of saying “message received.”
Sometimes keeping Jane around was entertaining. Watching her desperately try to get under her skin and fail every single time.
The car stopped in front of an upscale bridal boutique, Chloe got out and saw the elegant storefront-this was one of the city’s most exclusive wedding dress shops.

“Ms. Shaw, everything’s ready upstairs.”
The store manager approached with barely concealed excitement, leading her to the elevator.
The second floor was the VIP section. With Ethan’s appointment today, they’d reserved the private area just for them.
Chloe found Ethan sitting on the sofa, laptop balanced on his knees. One hand supported his forehead while the other typed, his long fingers moving with practiced elegance.
“Ethan, I’m here.”
He looked up, closed his laptop, and stood to walk over.
“About the dress-”
Before she could finish, Ethan suddenly took her hand. His fingers were cool against hers. Chloe’s eyes widened in surprise, and before she could react, he was already leading her inside.
The contact felt strange, unfamiliar. But then she remembered -they were getting married in a few weeks. So she didn’t pull away. She let him guide her toward a display case.
Ethan pulled off the white cloth covering it.

large bow at the back. When she saw it clearly, Chloe’s eyes widened.
How did he know?
“I remember choosing the strapless one.”
She’d loved this dress the moment she saw it-it was beautiful
and romantic.
But she’d deliberately chosen a different style she didn’t particularly care for.
Back then, she knew nothing about the Price family and had never even met Ethan. She’d kept her guard up, not wanting even her preferences to be easily discovered.
“You have beautiful collarbones.”
Ethan said this matter-of-factly.
Chloe blinked. Well, apparently she’d been overthinking. She’d thought this man had somehow figured her out,
Just as she was about to try on the dress, raised voices suddenly came from downstairs.
“Ma’am, there are private clients upstairs. You can’t go up
there!”

Jane was here!
Chloe startled, stumbling and nearly falling. Ethan quickly reached out, his strong hand steadying her waist.
“Thanks…”
Chloe mouthed silently to Ethan, then gestured toward the
staircase.
She quickly moved behind him.
It wasn’t time to blow her cover yet.
Jane was arguing with someone at the bottom of the stairs. Yesterday, she’d finally convinced Julian to do engagement photos-though only for her personal collection, nothing she could post publicly.
Even so, Jane had felt like she’d won. When they got married, it was just a quick courthouse ceremony-nothing romantic or special.
“I just want to look at wedding dresses. Is that seriously not allowed? Do you know who I am?”
Her good mood was officially ruined. Jane crossed her arms, her face red with anger.

but the second floor is reserved for a private appointment today. You’re welcome to browse our first floor collection, or I’d be
happy to schedule you for another day.”
The polite but firm response made it clear Jane wasn’t getting upstairs.
But this was the only boutique in the city that carried the designers she wanted.
