Chapter 23

Sophia bet out all her anger. Seeing Jonathan almost pass out from rape made her feel great.

Jonathan’s chest was rising and falling with fury. He pointed a shaking finger at her. “How ungrateful you are!”

Just when it looked like he might faint, Yvette finally spoke up, her voice soft and gentle “Sophia, Dad works so hard every day. He’s doing this for our family. You shouldn’t talk to him like that. Try to understand him.”

Her sweet tone instantly calmed the tense at Jonathan look a deep breath, feeling comforted as he looked at Yvette

Sophia pretended to be heartbroken. “Wette, you’re so thoughtful. Why don’t you go talk to the Lynn family and the Foley family? Ask them to give Jonathan everything without asking for anything back.”

Yvette froze. She didn’t know what to say. She just lowered her head and looked really sad.

“Enough,” Jonathan said loudly to Sophia. “I know you’re still mad about what happened, but this is about the whole family.”

He took a deep breath and tried to speak more gently. “We’ve ignored you all these years. That was our fault. But this is a serious matter. You can’t be this selfish. We’re Lamily.”

Sophia pave a cold smile, “You want to sacrifice me for your own happiness. Dream on,

On her first cycle, that was exactly what they did. Once they got everything they wanted from her, they threw her away. She died alone in a hospital room, and no one came for her body until it had started to rot

When the hospital called the Chandler family, not one of them showed up. In the end, it was a dying patient who claimed her body. That patient even gave her a grave, or else she would’ve been left in the wild

Jonathan tried to hold back his anger, afraid he might actually strangle Sophia

Seeing this, Sophia smiled sweetly. “You all keep saying I’m part of the Chandler family. Fine. Jonathan, give me shares in your company, and I’ll agree to your plan.”

“You want shares?” Jonathan’s eyes went wide. “You’re completely-

Sophia raised her eyebrows. “You were gonna say I’m crazy?““”

She laughed. “You won’t even give me shares, and you still have the nerve to say I’m family? You’re shameless.”

Sean, Elliot, and Howard all got shares in the Chandler Group as gits when they became adults. Not a lot, but it showed Jonathan cared.

At first, Sophia thought he just favored his sons. But then Yvette came back and got shares too. She was the only one left out.

That thought made her even angrier.

Under her stare, Jonathan looked away, clearly guilty.“You’re too young. I can’t just give you shares. When you get married, of course you’ll have your part.”

Sophia gave a mocking laugh. “Nice try. But I’m not falling for that.”

She didn’t want to keep talking. She turned to live.

Jonathan quickly stopped her. “Anything else is negotiable. Just not the shares.”

Sophia paused. “Looks like the Lynn family and the Foley family really did give you some nice perks.”

Jonathan looked a bit uneasy. “Just tell me what will it take for you to agree to make peace with them?”

Sophia smiled. “See? That’s better. We could’ve talked about benefits from the start, but you had to bring emotions into it. I really don’t get what you were thinking.”

She didn’t actually plan to forgive them. But if she could get something out of pretending, why not?

“I want a house near Jelasburg University,” Sophia said.

Jonathan didn’t hesitate. “Sure.”

“I’m an adult now I need a car,” Sophia went on. “It can’t be worse than Yvette’s?”

“And I want a full–floor apartment at Clearwater Bay,said Sophia.

Jonathan wired the money right away. When it looked like Sophia was done asking, he said, “About James-

As soon as she said that, Jonathan grabbed his phone and started making arrangements to transfer the properties to Sophia.

Yvette stared at the bright smile on Sophia’s face, burning with jealousy. All that should’ve been hers.

When Jonathan finished the call, Yvette asked, “Sophia, you’re not planning to go back on your word, are you?”
