Chapter 77
Chapter 77
Howard screamed the loudest as the wheelchair crashed to the floor, pinning him underneath. He struggled but couldn’t get up.
Heather, her eyes red and swollen from crying, froze for a moment before snapping at Kevin. “What are you doing? Why are you hitting my son?”
Kevin rushed to the hospital in a panic after searching everywhere. He pinned Howard down and kept punching him. “He tried to pull out Yvette’s infusion tube. Just hitting him is too easy. I should kill him.”
Howard curled up into a ball, completely helpless and unable to fight back, taking blow after blow.
“Xavier, be quick! Pull him off!” Heather, stuck in plaster casts, could only shout for help as chaos erupted around her.
Xavier had come to pick up Howard from the Chandler residence after his call, but the chaotic scene left him frozen in shock. Heather’s desperate shout jolted him back to action, and he rushed to pull Kevin away.
Howard lay crumpled on the floor, his face swollen and bruised.
Sophia arrived just in time to catch the tail end of the drama. “Wow, it’s so lively. Looks like I came at the perfect moment.”
Heather’s eyes lit up as if she’d seen her savior. “Sophia, hurry! Go find a doctor!”
Sophia tilted her head, feigning ignorance. “Did someone get beaten up?”
Heather replied, “What are you standing there for? Help Howard up and take him to the doctor.”
Sophia looked at Kevin, whose expression was furious. “What kind of grudge makes you beat someone so bad?” She turned to Heather with a mocking tone. “Heather, why not call the police?”
“Call the police?” Kevin’s cold, menacing eyes locked onto her. “Sure, go ahead. I’d like to see how you explain this at the station.” With that, he strode into the hospital room to check on Yvette, who was still unconscious.
“No!” Heather quickly interjected, her voice trembling. “Howard’s injuries are more urgent right now.”
Sophia leaned back in her seat, crossed her legs, and smirked, clearly enjoying the drama. She made no move to help.
Heather was growing anxious. “Sophia, didn’t you hear that? I told you to get a doctor.”
This floor of the hospital was reserved for VIP patients. Such a commotion would have drawn the attention of doctors and nurses now. However, Sophia had warned the hospital staff not to interfere unless summoned, ensuring the chaos would play out uninterrupted.
Sophia finally lifted her gaze, her eyes cold and sharp. “Keep shouting, and I’ll make sure everyone in this hospital knows Howard pushed you down the stairs. Let’s see how you handle the shame.
“Just imagine what Howard’s haters would do if they got wind of this. That must be interesting.”
Heather trembled with rage, her glare sharp and piercing, but words failed her.
Sophia pretended to accidentally step on Howard’s fingers, causing him to yell in pain.
“Go ahead, glare at me again,” Sophia said, pressing her heel down harder.
Heather’s heart twisted at the sight of Howard’s agony. Her lips quivered as she pleaded, “Take your foot off him.” No matter how furious or dissatisfied
she didn’t dare glare at Sophia again
she was,
Sophia finally lifted her foot, only to follow it up with a sharp kick to Howard. Ignoring Heather’s anguished expression, Sophia sneered, “This injury is not serious. But you should probably worry about yourself.”

Chapter 77
Heather’s eyes burned red with anger, yet she was utterly helpless. “Why are you even here?” she snapped.
Sophia sneered, “I’m here to watch the drama.”
Heather shook with rage, her face twisted with resentment. “Sophia, did you come here just to mock me and laugh at my misery? I’m your mother f almost died! Do you even have a conscience?” she shouted.
Sophia blinked and shouted back, “You almost died because Howard pushed you, not me! Want me to beat him up for you to vent your anger?”
Heather choked on her words, her face filled with frustration and fear. She glared at Sophia warily. “How dare you!”
Sophia let out a disdainful laugh. “You favor Howard, but you treat me poorly. How did I end up with a mother like you? I’ve always wondered–five kids, and yet you and Jonathan treat us so differently. Why is that?”
Sophia stepped closer, her gaze piercing. “Tell me, am I your biological daughter?”
Heather felt a chill run down her spine under Sophia’s intense stare. A wave of unease washed over her. “What nonsense are you talking about? Of
course, you’re my daughter-”
Sophia interrupted, “Alright, I get it.”
Heather swallowed nervously. “What do you mean?”
Sophia smiled, “You don’t deserve a daughter like me. Honestly, being your daughter is nothing but bad luck.”
Heather’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. Her teeth clenched so tightly. “You ungrateful brat! Is this how you repay me? Did you come here to drive me
insane?”
Sophia shrugged, her hands casually tucked into her pockets. “If that’s what you think, who am I to argue?
“If you don’t want to see me, I’ll leave. Why not stay here a few more days? Honestly, things are better without you around. With Jonathan at home, it won’t be long before someone new joins the family.”
Sophia rolled her eyes, her tone dripping with sarcasm, and turned to leave.
“Stop right there!” Heather called out, “What do you mean by that? Did you tell Jonathan?”
Sophia turned back to Heather with a smirk. “Don’t worry. It’s not Mireille.”
Heather thought, ‘If it wasn’t Mireille, who could it be? Could Jonathan have someone else?‘
Leaning in close, Sophia whispered into Heather’s ear, “Did you forget about the illegitimate child?”
Heather’s heart skipped a beat. “What?”
Sophia said, “I overheard Jonathan talking about him. He’s already joined the company. But don’t worry. Jonathan has no intention of acknowledging him. Just focus on recovering.” She patted Heather’s shoulder lightly, her smile laced with mockery.
Heather’s face turned pale as she grabbed Sophia’s arm before she could leave. “Did he let that bastard into the company?”
“Of course,” Sophia replied.
