The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 239

It wouldn't have mattered if Michael sought revenge on someone who was just a little well-known. However, he really didn't dare to do it when it came to Sirius. Now, he finally understood why the latter didn't care at all after hearing about the Baxters and Lincoln.

After all, Sirius went for the biggest boss in Wellton's underworld. Even though the boss wasn't as great as Lincoln, he was still an impressive man.

Sirius didn't care at all back then, let alone now. He said he was impulsive in the past because he didn't like feeling aggrieved. However, he still slapped Michael without any hesitation when things weren't going his way.

Michael took a deep breath and said to Sirius, "Oh, so you're Sirius! I never expected to see you here, and you're even Mr. Greene's friend! I'm sorry for being rude earlier."

When Sirius heard that, he coldly said, "What do you mean I'm Mr. Greene's friend? Are you trying to kill me or humiliate him? How could I possibly be worthy enough to be Mr. Greene's friend? Remember, I'm just looking after his house for him. So, I'm his subordinate's subordinate at best, understood?"

Michael was speechless upon hearing that. With Sirius' reputation, he would still be an esteemed guest in Lincoln's territory. However, he was willingly looking after someone else's house and thought it was an honor.

Michael didn't understand it at all. He wondered if Nolan was way more impressive than they had imagined. However, was it even possible?

"We understand now, Sirius."

Sirius nodded and pointed at the security room near the entrance, saying calmly, "You can wait there with your men, and do not wander around. There'll be lunch for you too, so people can't say we're starving our guests from afar."

After saying that, he was ready to leave. However, before he walked away, he smiled at Michael and the rest.
