"Jeanne, there's no need to mock me. At least we've gotten what we wanted and will continue to get it. If you don't believe me, just wait and see!" With that, Kara snorted coldly and walked away.
Jeanne watched Kara's retreating figure, her expression showing clear dissatisfaction. She then frowned and dialed Nolan's number, but it went straight to voicemail again.
"Did you really block me too? Damn it, Nolan, are you even a man? Just wait; I'll find you and not let you off."
After muttering to herself, she left as well.
It had been one of Nolan's most peaceful days in a long time, at least for that night.
Lying on the small island in the middle of the lake at Misty Hill, Nolan felt unusually at ease thanks to the environment and essence there.
The following day, just as the sun rose, a small boat arrived quietly at the island with a hearty breakfast. The person delivering it was none other than Scarlet.
"Mr. Greene, judging by your complexion, it looks like you rested well last night." She smiled.
Nolan nodded. "The environment is great and very peaceful. It helps me relax."
She nodded in return, then spoke softly. "You haven't had proper rest since you returned. If you don't mind, let me handle the worldly matters for you. Just focus on resting."
He nodded without refusing.
