Nolan wasn't familiar with other voices. However, how could he possibly not recognize the voice of his own father!
The relationship between Nolan and his father was similar to that between most ordinary people and their fathers. There weren't really any heartfelt talks, but deep down in his heart, Nolan held his father in the highest regard.
In fact, all of Nolan's efforts were aimed at enabling his parents to live a good life. Once upon a time, he did manage to do so and made his parents proud of him. But that sense of pride didn't last long, as Nolan's imprisonment changed everything.
It had been three years. He didn't return home immediately, partially because of Megan and partially because he wasn't mentally prepared.
The sound of his father's voice caught Nolan off guard, causing a rush of joy and helplessness to wash over him.
"Dad, why are you with Megan? Is Mom with you too? Are you both doing okay?"
At that moment, Nolan's only concern was their well-being, which he expressed quickly. But what he received in return was an unexpected scolding.
"Are we still on your mind, you brat? You never even bothered to call us after getting out of prison. And now, you're making Megan go through a divorce. You're nothing but an asshole!
"I'm at Megan's villa. Get over here right now."
The phone abruptly disconnected without giving Nolan a chance to reply. As he held onto the phone, a bitter smile formed on his lips, and a flash of anger flickered in his eyes.
