The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 408

Nolan, flanked by Ironhead and Mad Dog, soon arrived at Gregory's room.

Throughout their journey, the icy, hostile gazes directed at him were ineffective.

Ironhead and Mad Dog, however, followed nervously, neither daring to stray from Nolan's side.

As soon as they entered Gregory's room, the two henchmen seemed to regain some confidence, as if they had found their anchor.

"Gregory, we're sorry. We've let you down."

Gregory, however, didn't even spare them a glance. His sharp gaze remained fixed on Nolan. With a faint smile, he gestured toward the sofa nearby.

"If you wanted to see me, there was no need for such dramatics. Please, have a seat."

Unperturbed, Nolan strode forward and sat down without hesitation, his indifferent gaze locked on Gregory.

"So, you're Gregory."

Gregory nodded, his expression calm. "That's right. I am Gregory. And you are? Do we have a grudge I'm unaware of that justifies your brutal treatment of my men?"

At this, Nolan let out a soft chuckle.

"No grudge, you say? Then why did you send people to kill me?"

The words made Gregory freeze momentarily. His gaze flicked to Ironhead, and his brow furrowed slightly.

"You're Nolan?"

Nolan's expression didn't shift as he nodded.

"Sending assassins without even knowing who your target is… Gregory, your arrogance truly knows no bounds."

Gregory's face darkened, his tone growing grave.

"That was my mistake. I failed to recognize Mr. Greene and offended you. For that, I owe you an apology and will do my utmost to compensate you. But I must ask, those who disrupted tonight's operations, were they your people, Mr. Greene?"

Nolan's tone remained calm, almost dismissive.
