It was an act. Had she planned to go all the way to the end?
"Megan, stop pretending. I've already told my parents everything. I will never be with you. There's too much hatred between us. If you want a better ending for yourself, I suggest you leave now. Don't say I didn't warn you," Nolan said.
Megan frowned slightly at his words. She stared at Nolan, her expression cold. "What's wrong, Nolan? Can't handle the act already?
"If you want me to stop playing along, fine. Just agree to my terms, and this will be over.
"Before that, though, you'd better handle the Baxter family's donation issue. Otherwise, I'll make sure your parents know exactly how you bullied me and the kind of company you've been keeping with the underworld.
"Don't forget, your parents need Megan Corporation to impress at the family reunion. If you ruin my company, they'll be the ones to suffer, not me."
Nolan was silent for a moment before letting out a low chuckle. "Megan, you know what? I almost admire you.
"You're always standing at a crossroads, so many choices in front of you, yet you always pick the worst one. That's a talent in itself.
"The Baxter family won't come after you anymore. That would be far too easy on you. No, you'll stand by and watch everything you own crumble to dust.
"Megan, enjoy these last few comfortable days. Your future is going to be anything but bright."
With that, Nolan turned on his heel and walked away without a second glance.
Megan watched him leave, a sneer forming on her lips. "Nolan, do you really think the Baxter family alone is enough to take me down? I've told you before, you underestimate me.
