Aiden Finnegan's Medical Odyssey novel Chapter 30

Aiden called out before grabbing onto Gina's arm, and both of them hid behind a street sculpture. Since the sculpture wasn't big enough, Aiden had to hide Gina with his body so that both of them could hide behind it. Gina, who was hiding in Aiden's arms, blushed when she smelled the fresh scent of shampoo coming from him.

When she lifted her gaze to look at him, he was staring in the direction of a high-rise building opposite the street. "They are well-equipped with firearms. Are they after you or after me?" he mumbled.

Hearing that, Gina frowned as she took out a mini walkie-talkie and spoke into it. "Locate the assassin!"

Soon after, Aiden responded, "I think they are here for me!"

Gina wanted to ask him why he'd think that they were after him since he was just a live-in son-in-law. Even though he had offended the Chapman Family at the banquet yesterday, the Chapmans wouldn't do something as flagrant as killing people on the streets.

However, what Aiden had in mind was different from hers. Have the people who tried to hurt me found out that I'm still alive? Or is the Finnegan Family behind this? Based on the array of weapons that were used, only affluent families like the Finnegan Family within Wardom could possess firearms like that. Of course, if it was done by foreign forces, then it would be a different story.

Just then, two bodyguards got out of Gina's car and started shooting in the direction of the building. Everyone fled Vermilion Avenue when they heard the loud gunshots. Within a few seconds, the whole street was vacated except for the two bodyguards still firing gunshots, as well as Aiden and Gina who were hiding behind the sculpture.

It was apparent that the aggressor came prepared. From the sound of the gunshots, one could tell that they had a full range of powerful firearms such as pistols, rifles, and sniper rifles.

Boom! After the gunshot was heard, a bullet shot at the sculpture that Aiden and Gina were hiding behind. Aiden immediately touched the sculpture with his hand as he tried to feel its thickness before saying with a grave expression, "If the sniper is a skilled marksman, this sculpture will be shattered after being hit by three bullets!"

With that, Aiden glanced at the opposite building coldly. Just as he was about to go over there, an elderly man dashed out from Gina's car and headed straight into the building—it was Arnold, the man he had met yesterday.

Aiden watched as Arnold rushed into the building, and he became more curious about Gina's identity. Ever since he came to Keyland, he was the Gray Family's live-in son-in-law, which was why he was unfamiliar with the influential forces within the country.

He took what happened last night as the Chapman Family being intimidated by the Harper Family, but he wasn't sure of how prominent the Harper Family was within Keyland. However, seeing how well-trained the bodyguards were, Aiden was certain that the Harper Family wasn't ordinary.

Soon after Arnold disappeared into the building, the gunshots coming from the building decreased and eventually stopped. Both of the bodyguards then rushed over to the sculpture, and once they were sure it was safe to come out, they said to Gina, "The coast is clear, Miss Harper. Arnold has taken care of the snipers, so you can come out now!"

At that moment, Gina was in a daze as she stayed in Aiden's embrace. As such, the man patted her shoulder to remind her that it was safe to go out now. However, she was so reluctant to leave his embrace that she glared at the bodyguards upon coming out. The bodyguards were puzzled as Gina seemed displeased even though both of them had turned up as soon as the commotion broke out.

However, they finally realized what Gina was mad about when they noticed how the woman's face flushed red when Aiden got out. Both of them couldn't hold back their smiles upon seeing that. Although Gina seemed to have a strong character, she was kind and friendly toward the people around her, which was why the bodyguards could be themselves around her.

Noticing the smiles on their faces, she glared at them and snapped. "I'll take care of both of you when we get back!" Aiden was surprised when she said that, for he also thought that the bodyguards had done their job well.

"Miss Harper, judging from the firearms, I don't think it's done by someone local. It could be Charles!" one of the bodyguards uttered.

"Hmph, he only knows how to play dirty!" Gina snorted.

With the protection of the bodyguards, Aiden and Gina entered the car. Samuel had specially instructed the S-Class vehicle to be custom-made for Gina with the highest level of ballistic protection. Since Gina was actively involved in the business field and treated her opponents aggressively, she inevitably offended a few of them.
