Aiden Finnegan's Medical Odyssey novel Chapter 40

"Hmph!" the young lady snorted coldly while glaring at Aiden without saying a word. Once I've mastered all your skills, I'm gonna kick you out of my way! Then, I'll open an Eternal Youth opposite your medical center to give you a taste of what it's like to be betrayed and outdone by your own apprentice! she thought bitterly. She had been pissed off at first, but her mood lightened up considerably as she stood there imagining the future.

Reece hurriedly tugged at Helena to signal her to enter the establishment. He could tell that Aiden seemed to have an obsession with the name Finnegan Medical Center. Although the man's face showed nothing, there was a hint of loneliness in his eyes at this very moment.

Seeing how Aiden's eyes were fixed on the signboard, Gina asked softly, "What's on your mind?"

"Nothing," Aiden replied. With that, he walked straight into the medical center and up to the examination table.

"Are you starting a business already?" Gina asked in surprise.

Aiden replied with a smile, "Why not?"

"So, there isn't even an opening ceremony?" Gina asked.

"Why have an opening ceremony when I have no friends to invite to it?" Aiden replied with a laugh.

Gina nodded before saying with a smile, "Well, I guess that's okay. Do a soft opening for some time until you've built up a network of connections before having a grand opening."

"Uh-huh," Aiden responded.

Just then, his phone rang, and Angelina's voice sounded through it. "Aiden, where are you?"

"I'm dealing with something out here," Aiden answered flatly.

Upon hearing this, Angelina said, "I have something to talk to you about. Where are you? Tell me so that I can come to you right away."

"Why don't you tell me where you are instead?" Aiden suggested.

Angelina thus gave him the address.

Aiden then said goodbye to Reece. Just when he was about to leave, however, Gina asked with a smile, "Was that a phone call from your wife?"

"Yeah, she says she's got something to talk to me about," Aiden replied with a nod.

Gina pouted. "So, you're going to her right away?"

Aiden broke into a smile. Looking helplessly at the woman, he said, "Miss Gina, she is my wife, after all."

"Alright, just go," Gina replied with a nod. However, after the man had left, she mumbled, "But she's not treating you as her husband. I wonder if you're oblivious or just playing dumb." After saying that, she laughed to herself.

The address that Angelina had given to Aiden belonged to the downstairs cafe at her office. While waiting for him to arrive, she thought back on how she and the man had come so far as a married couple. She couldn't describe her feelings toward Aiden. In fact, she had been rather averse to Ronald's arrangement of her marriage to Aiden in the beginning, but Aiden had always been nice to her afterward, which moved her sometimes.

However, all of this changed after Ronald passed away. Ridiculed by her relatives, she began to hold a grudge against Aiden, especially when Eric and other shareholders ousted her from the position of president on the excuse that the Gray Family's estate mustn't fall into the hands of Aiden, an outsider and a good-for-nothing son-in-law. As a result, she felt as though her life had only turned out like this because of Aiden.

In reality, she knew Aiden wasn't solely to blame for this. After all, even if he was out of the picture, Eric and his family would still do whatever they could to remove her from power. However, it didn't help that her mother Linda picked on and hauled Aiden over the coals in every possible way due to the fall of their family's standing within the Grays, which subsequently changed her subconscious attitude toward him.

She was still sunk in thought when Aiden pushed the door open and entered. After finding out where she was, he slowly walked up to her, only to see her in a contemplative mood. "What's on your mind? You look so preoccupied," he asked.

Her thoughts interrupted, Angelina looked up to see that Aiden had already seated himself across from her. "Nothing. I was just thinking about something that happened in the past," she replied indifferently.
