Aiden went straight up to the second floor and back to his room without saying a word.
Angelina was lying on her bed when she heard that the door to Aiden's room was closed. Getting out of bed somewhat hesitantly, she came up to his room, opened the door, and entered right away, only to cry out, "Ah!" when she saw him inside.
At this very moment, Aiden was getting changed. He had just taken off his pants and was just about to put on a pair of pajamas, but little did he think Angelina would come in. After glancing at his lower body, he curled his lips and muttered to himself, "What's there to be surprised about? It's not like I'm naked."
Hearing her daughter's loud cry downstairs, Linda hurriedly came upstairs with a spatula in her hand. She asked, "What happened? Did that good-for-nothing take liberties with you again?!"
"No, I just saw a house lizard, that's all," Angelina replied, her face flushed.
Linda looked at her suspiciously. "Really?"
"Really, Mom. You can go back down now," Angelina urged.
Upon hearing this, Linda had no choice but to go downstairs with a dubious expression. Before she left, she said, "Just call out to me if that good-for-nothing dares to get overfamiliar with you!"
"He really didn't do that! Just hurry and go downstairs." Angelina was getting impatient.
After Linda went downstairs, Aiden opened the door, saying, "Come in."
Angelina walked in and closed the door behind her instantly. "Why didn't you lock the door while getting changed?!" she asked with a flush in her cheeks.
"It was your fault for not knocking on the door, okay?" Aiden retorted, rolling his eyes.
"But you didn't lock the door!" Angelina said while shooting a glare at him.
"It's not like you saw anything—" Aiden muttered under his breath.
Angelina's ears pricked up. Flaring her eyebrows, she asked, "What did you say?"
"I said I'll lock the door next time!" Aiden immediately replied.
Angelina nodded in satisfaction, saying, "That's right. It was your fault in the first place!" She didn't mention in the slightest how she had neglected to knock on the door.
"Okay, it's my fault," Aiden replied in resignation.
Seeing how the man got knocked back, Angelina suddenly snorted with laughter. Why have I never realized it's so fun to bully him?
"Do you have something to talk to me about?" Aiden asked, puzzled.
Angelina replied grumpily, "I'm here to check what you're doing. Can't I come to you for nothing?"
Aiden eyed her up and down closely. He noticed that she had changed into a pure silk slip nightgown with a shawl draped around her shoulders. Pure silk was silky smooth in the first place, and the nightgown outlined her hourglass figure perfectly.
Seeing the man staring blankly at herself, Angelina looked down for a moment. The next instant, she said menacingly, "What are you looking at? Keep staring and I'll gouge your eyes out!"
A smile lifted the corners of Aiden's mouth. "So malicious, eh? It seems you were the one who came here in a nightgown, no?" he teased.
Angelina retorted, "That doesn't mean you could stare at me like that!" With that, she sat down in the man's chair and flipped through the books on his desk. She noticed that they were of two different categories; some of them were on traditional medicine, while the others were on finance. "Are you also interested in finance?" she asked.
Perplexed at the purpose of her behavior tonight, Aiden had no choice but to answer her question. "I only read them a bit when I'm bored."
Angelina turned around and asked him, "Aiden, do you really not need that money?"
"I've taken care of it," Aiden replied impassively.
"Yeah, when pigs fly!" Angelina replied. How is it possible for him to raise over 150,000 in business capital by himself? He's got to be keeping it from me because he doesn't want to lose face, she thought to herself. Then, she said, "Actually, there's no need for civilities between us, you know."
Aiden merely replied, "Alright." He was baffled. You were the one who came into my room looking for me, no? Why would you ask me if I had something to talk to you about?
After returning to her room, she suddenly felt rather conflicted. She had no idea why she had gone to the man's room just now. Was it because I was hoping for something to happen? But haven't I always rejected him? There's no way I'd have such ideas! "It's got to be that I just wanted to check on him out of guilt," she mumbled in an attempt to comfort herself.
