Aiden Finnegan the Alchemist in Delcord novel Chapter 45

Aiden looked at Helena with a vague smile.

"He paid 150,000 just to get treated for sexual impotence?" Helena said in disbelief. "Grandpa, haven't you also treated some patients for that before? Why have you never been paid so much for that?"

Reece shook his head and replied, "That's different."

"What's so different about that?" Helena asked.

Reece explained with a laugh, "What I did back then was merely nurse them back to health with medicine, whereas the patient whom Mr. Finnegan received today was suffering from kidney damage. Had Mr. Finnegan not treated him with the Life Energy Inducing Technique, he'd probably never be able to have kids! Also, that guy was clearly of extraordinary status. Distinguished families are usually more obsessed with continuing the family line, which is why he paid so much for the medical consultation in a burst of happiness."

"I see! Well, I never noticed that you do have it in you," Helena said to Aiden with a curl of her lips.

Looking at the young lady, Aiden teased, "As a matter of fact, I've got more in me than that, so you'd better be good from now on. Otherwise, I've got dozens of ways to punish you."

Helena curled her lips and retorted disdainfully, "Hmph! Trying to scare me, huh? You think such a trick will work on me?"

They bickered for a moment before several patients arrived at the medical center one after another. At first, they didn't believe that Aiden was a doctor; only after getting their illnesses treated with inexpensive prescriptions did they leave after thanking him.

Just when Aiden sat down to take a break, Gina came in, accompanied by a pickup truck outside. "What brings you here?" he asked.

Gina's eyebrows flared. Pulling a long face on purpose, she said, "Call me Miss Gina!"

"Okay, Miss Gina," Aiden replied with a wry smile.

"That's more like it!" Gina nodded with satisfaction. Then, she explained, "I saw that your place was kind of empty, so I brought some antiques here." As she spoke, she began to direct the movers outside to get off the pickup truck and start moving the antiques into the medical center.

Aiden picked up an antique at random and took a look. Noticing that it had a strong energy field surrounding it, he quickly asked, "Miss Gina, could you have bought these yourself?"

"Nope, I didn't. I took them from home," Gina answered nonchalantly. "It's pointless to let them pile up in the storeroom, anyway, so it's better to bring them here instead."

"The one in my hands probably isn't cheap, no?" Aiden asked.

Gina pondered for a moment before answering, "This one costs about 30,000, I think, but I can't remember the exact amount. My grandpa loves these things, but I don't know much about them."

When Aiden heard this, he hurriedly said, "Stop! Stop moving the stuff!" As he spoke, he rushed to the entrance and saw several antiques left on the pickup truck. He said to the movers, "Guys, please don't move them for now!" Then, he turned around and said to Gina, "Miss Gina, these things belong to your grandpa. I can't have them."

"Don't worry, I've told my grandpa about this in advance," Gina replied with a smile.

Aiden shook his head, saying, "Still, they're too expensive. I can't have them."

"Are you standing on ceremony with me?" Gina said while coming to Aiden's side before raising her hand in an attempt to smack him teasingly.

Gina nodded, adding, "There's also a figurine made of porcelain to wish you a booming business for the medical center."

To her surprise, however, Aiden shook his head and replied, "Miss Gina, I'd rather not have that."

Startled, Gina asked in bewilderment, "Why? Isn't it good to have a booming business?"

"I'm running a medical center here, so a booming business means I'm having a lot of patients. If the business is slow at all clinics and hospitals, it'd mean that fewer people are being ill," Aiden explained.

Gina's eyes brightened at such words. Seeing Aiden in a new light, she said in all sincerity, "Young Aiden, they say doctors are all kindhearted, but I'd always thought it was just a meaningless phrase. Now I see in you the qualities that a doctor should have."

Angelina grew even more irritated deep down as she listened to their conversation. Even though she agreed with what Aiden said, she had a clear sense that she couldn't be part of their conversation, as though Aiden and Gina were an actual couple. "Aiden, when did you start this medical center?" she asked with a frown.

Aiden thought for a moment before answering with a smile, "I started it on the day you offered me the money. Didn't I tell you at the time that I'd taken care of it?"

Just then, Gina cut in with a curl of her lips, "Miss Gray, it's really funny of you to blame young Aiden for not telling you about it when it was you who didn't believe your husband in the first place. Since you care so little about him, don't regret it when he gets stolen from you by another woman someday."

After seeing Gina getting a word in, Angelina answered back angrily, "It's none of your business whether I care about my husband or not! Who would take a fancy to him, anyway?" Thanks to her long-standing habit, she failed to spare Aiden's feelings when she spoke.
