Aiden Finnegan's Medical Odyssey novel Chapter 48

"Ray, I really appreciate you and your friend for helping me out. Let me treat you to a meal!" Angelina said with a smile.

Ray was taken aback by her words. My friend? What friend?

When he didn't reply, she assumed that he hadn't heard her and repeated, "I've already signed the contract with Avirax Medicare, and Mr. Kelly said it was all thanks to your friend!"

"O-Oh, so that's what it was! I forgot to tell you about it!" Ray said while thinking, I didn't ask a friend though. Besides, I'm just a manager at Webb Corporation, so how could I get in touch with the president of Avirax Medicare? I was just bragging in front of Angelina that day! But still, since she succeeded, I should just admit it and make her think better of me. Who knows…

"It's not a big deal to you and you probably didn't think much of it, but it's a big deal to me!" Angelina said with a smile, "So, I'll treat you to lunch! You can decide on the place!"

"It's fine, really. We're classmates, and it was just a phone call. I should be the one treating you instead!" Ray said.

He tried his best to appear gentlemanly in front of her, and his words did in fact improve her impression of him.

"Of course not! Hurry up and decide the location, and we'll continue later," Angelina insisted.

Finally, Ray conceded, "Okay, let's go to the cafe near your company. It's closer to you."

"All right!" she agreed.

After the call ended, Angelina's impression of Ray improved, and she wondered how she hadn't noticed that Ray was so considerate when she was in college. That was just how people were; sometimes they took it for granted no matter how much the people around them cared for them, but they would think that an outsider was sweet even with the smallest of gestures—even if they had ulterior motives.

Ray did not invite Angelina out for dinner in order to impress her as well. After all, it was always more fun to take his time to catch his target. As he looked at the video on his phone, a smile appeared in the corner of his mouth. Let's see if you're still gonna stick around Angelina this time.

Soon, he arrived at the cafe they had decided on.

As soon as they met, Angelina thanked Ray, "Ray, it's all thanks to you. If it weren't for you, I don't think that Avirax Medicare would've signed a contract with Gray Enterprise. After all, Gray Enterprise is nowhere as powerful!"

"Angelina, you don't have to say that. I just happened to have a friend in the company who works directly with Avirax Medicare, so I told him. It's no big deal!" he replied modestly.

"It is a big deal. Your company is a big one, and these issues are probably a walk in the park for you, but it's a big deal to me!" Angelina said with a smile.

While they conversed, they took their seats by the table.

"I've been here once. The food here is light; you like milder dishes, and it's close to your company, so it's convenient for you to go back to work later!" Ray said with a smile.

Angelina nodded, thinking that he was thoughtful, and she jokingly said, "Why didn't I realize you were so considerate when we were in college? Any girl who marries you would be lucky to have you!"

"Me? Haha, I was quite shy back in college. If I were as considerate as I am right now, I wouldn't have brushed past you!" He looked at her intensely.

Unaccustomed to his gaze, she hurriedly said, "That was so long ago! What about you? Why haven't you gotten married yet? I think our classmates' children must be quite old by now."

"There's someone that I couldn't let go, so I never got married," Ray said, feigning heartbreak.

After all the encounters—whether sexual or not—he'd had with women these years, he knew them all too well. First, he had to stimulate their motherly instinct before he could seize the chance to make his move.

Looking at her delicate hands, he felt an urge welling up from deep within, but he knew it wasn't the right time, so he bit his tongue. Better take things one step at a time so that it doesn't backfire.

Why are they going to the hotel?

Did they already know each other before this?

No wonder Gina was defending Aiden so much at the Webbs' dinner!

There's also the medical center! All that talk about treating Arnold was nonsense! It was just a gift from her!

Aiden's recent attitude, his indifference toward me, and the change from obedience to not even sparing an argument with me are all because he already has Gina!
