Aiden Finnegan's Medical Odyssey novel Chapter 49

"Calm down, Angelina. Don't take it the wrong way. Aiden won't cheat on you." Ray pretended to be a good friend, showing concern for Angelina and defending Aiden. Or that was what it seemed to be.

However, Angelina didn't calm down even after hearing Ray's reassurance. After what happened at the Webbs' ball and the medical center, she knew things were not as they seemed.

Seeing that she remained silent for a while, Ray continued, "Calm down, Angelina. You don't look too good. Why don't you ask Aiden, then? He's not the kind of man to do such a thing. I mean, he's a coward."

"All the more reason he'd sleep around." Angelina harrumphed, hyperventilating. She was extremely agitated.

She couldn't accept this betrayal. Even though they had never consummated the marriage, even though she never even smiled at Aiden even once, he was still her husband in name. He was still someone who married into her family. If the public knew that her husband was cheating on her, they would laugh at her. She had already had enough of being laughed at during the wedding, and she refused to go through it again. Angelina did her best to compose herself before saying calmly, "Let's finish our meal."

Ray responded, "Are you alright, Angelina? You're scaring me. I'm sorry. I was just trying to help."

"Don't be. You did nothing wrong. Thank you, Ray," said Angelina. She dug into her meal, but apparently, her mind was elsewhere. They only had a few bites before Angelina stood up. "Sorry, Ray. I'm not in the best of moods today. I'll treat you properly next time. If you'll excuse me, I'll get going now."

"It's alright. I'll take you back to the company," offered Ray.

"That won't be necessary." She paid the bill and left soon after. However, the moment she emerged from the restaurant, tears streamed down her cheeks. Why am I crying? Is it due to anger or sadness? There's no way I am sad just because he betrayed me, right?

Once she was gone, Ray smirked and called the waiter over. "Get me a bottle of wine." I got what I came for, and it went well. Though, I didn't expect she'd react like that. Guess that bumbling, useless fool does mean something to her, after all. Well, not anymore. Time for me to celebrate! Aiden, you'd better hope lady luck is on your side, but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. I can already imagine him being kicked out of the house.

Angelina came back to the company, looking listless. She didn't even care about Kevin's mockery as she walked to her office. At the moment, all she could think of was the years she had spent with Aiden. She thought about the times when he was taken in by her grandfather, the times when they were married, and all sorts of things that happened after that. However, the more she thought about it, the more frustrated she became. She took a leave and went straight to the medical center. When she arrived at the place, she saw Aiden treating his patients. She couldn't believe this was the same man in the video, yet there was no escaping the fact that it was the truth.

"Here. Take this prescription for a week, and your condition should get better." Aiden prescribed the medication for his patient and smiled.

The patient thanked him and left.

Just then, Aiden looked at the entrance and saw Angelina standing there. Quickly, he got up and went over to her. "Come in. It's cold out there. You don't want to catch a cold."

Oh, now he's trying to show concern? She felt like crying, yet she tried her best to look at him calmly. Her eyes were slightly red from her earlier minor breakdown. She bit her lip before uttering calmly, "Come with me."

Aiden was baffled at the look on her face. It felt like she was holding something in.

He followed her outside and asked, "What's wrong? Why did we have to come out?"

It was only then Aiden finally realized something was off. Gina? He asked, "What happened? Why did you say that?"

How did she know about that? He was stunned for a brief moment when he heard that. However, he wasn't going to lie to her about it since he was innocent and didn't cheat on her. He only took Gina to the hotel because she was drunk and needed someplace to stay. So, without any hesitation, he nodded. "Yes."

Angelina froze when the man admitted it so readily. She thought he would try to deny it. Is he going to end this once and for all? "So, you're not even hiding anymore, huh?" She laughed, her hands balling into fists.
