"Yeah. She's the hottest girl in Keyland, but she's married to a good-for-nothing. Anyone would be annoyed," Aiden muttered to himself.
Helena made an exaggerated gesture. "Annoyed? I'd probably kill myself if it were me. Oh, by the way, why did your wife come to you earlier?"
He then told her that Angelina had found out he and Gina had gone to a hotel.
Helena nodded before saying, "It's normal for a woman to get mad since that is something hard to explain. But the real evil here is the one who filmed that video. I bet it's one of your wife's suitors."
Aiden froze. "Suitor?"
"You don't know?" She looked surprised.
"Know about what?" A frown creased his forehead.
An awkward expression filled her face. "I can tell you, but you have to promise you won't get mad."
"I promise."
"Your wife is the hottest girl in Keyland. She's every man's dream woman. Lots of rich boys have been telling everyone they want to woo your wife," said Helena carefully.
"Don't they know she's married?" Aiden frowned.
Helena pouted. "They know, but they also know you're trash. For three years, you've been nothing but her caretaker, and you even sleep in the storeroom at night. It's as if you both are not married at all. They don't lose anything even if they manage to court her. As long as they can get a pretty lady, they won't care that she's divorced. As for you, they don't even see you as a competition. Some of them even say you won't even say a word if they tried to woo your wife in front of you."
Aiden crushed the teacup in his hand, his face black as thunder.
Shocked, Helena quickly said, "I thought you promised you wouldn't get mad!"
He took a deep breath before apologizing, "My bad."
"I can understand." For once, she didn't mock him.
"So, what should I do now? She won't believe me, no matter what I say," he said helplessly.
"Duh. Even if she does believe you, she won't forgive you that easily. She would be giving you a free pass to cheat if she does. Just cheer her up when you go home. She'll forgive you once she's calmed down. This is just a misunderstanding, after all." Helena smiled.
"How do I cheer her up?" Aiden looked at her cluelessly.
My goodness, he knows nothing! "You do know how to sweet talk a woman, don't you?"
"I do." He nodded.
Good. You're not a total idiot, then, she thought while patting his shoulder. The man didn't know what to make of her gesture.
"Well, what are you waiting for, then? Go home already!"
Aiden nodded and left for home. The moment he entered the residence, he saw Linda sitting on the sofa with a dark look on her face, whereas Harvey was reading the newspaper quietly.
She must have told her mother everything. Bet she's here to interrogate me!
"I know him. He's not a liar, and this is between the kids, so stay out of it." Harvey frowned.
"Stay out of it? I just want her to be well. I can't believe you'd trust an outsider more than our daughter!"
"You keep calling me trash and an outsider, Mom. It's your fault that our marriage has turned out such a mess," Aiden snapped. He couldn't take it anymore.
Linda shot him a glare. "I'm doing this for her own good."
He then muttered, "Nobody loves her more than I do." After saying that, he got up and went upstairs. He knocked on Angelina's door, but nobody answered, so he went inside.
Aiden smiled before answering, "The door wasn't locked."
His reply infuriated her. Just because the door isn't locked doesn't mean you can come in!
"So, you can come in as you please just because the door isn't locked, huh? If Gina's door isn't locked, does that mean you would go into her room?"
Aiden smiled dryly. "I'm here to explain things. You can chase me out after you are done listening to me."
