Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 261

The night rain poured heavily. An utterly ordinary car drove along the road leaving Qranross.

"How has Emma been doing lately?" Daniel, sitting in the back seat, suddenly asked. His expression displayed not a hint of worry but utter composure.

"Since her recovery, Emma has been wearing a smile every day. She even asked when she could see you again." A smile appeared on Joshua's originally stoic face as soon as he spoke about her.

"I might have time in another two days. Maybe I'll go see her at her school." Daniel put away the newspaper and turned to look outside the window.

Raindrops slid down the windshield, and he sensed a surge of killing intent.

"They're here," he uttered softly.

Joshua's expression tightened in an instant, and he slammed on the brakes. The car let out a sharp screech as it came to a sudden stop.

His reflexes were quick. Right in front of him, a shadow suddenly appeared. It was a sharp bend in the road, and if they crashed head-on, it would likely be a fatal collision.

"I'll deal with them, Mr. Ashcroft." Joshua was ready to alight.

However, Daniel pressed his shoulder. "I told you you're my driver today. Therefore, your only job today is to drive. Meanwhile, it depends on you how much you'd learn from what you're about to see later."

Daniel retracted his strength and gently patted Joshua's shoulder. He opened the car door, grabbed a black umbrella, and stepped out.

Ahead of the car was a massive stone, which appeared to be a normal landslide. However, from the way the debris scattered, it was clear that this had been caused by a precise detonation.

"Oh, hey, Mr. Ashcroft. Where are you heading in the late hours?" A group emerged from both sides of the dense forest.
