Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 291

"Looks like you still don't understand what I'm saying, Ms. Winters."

Daniel shook his head and continued, "Everything in this world has a price. I'm planning to expand my business to Magden, and I wanted to discuss a potential partnership with you. What do you think?"

Yvette frowned and locked eyes with him. "Apologies, Mr. Ashcroft, but this hotel is a family asset. It is not for sale."

"That's really a shame. But trust me; you'll be coming to me very soon." With that, Daniel got up and turned to leave.

Yvette's expression darkened as she watched him walk away. "What a strange man."

"We don't know the full extent of this man's strength, Ms. Winters. It's best not to provoke him too much." A martial artist reminded her cautiously.

Yvette nodded in acknowledgment. That was when her phone rang.

She picked up, but the next moment, her expression changed drastically. "What! Critical condition! He was doing fine when I left! Start the emergency treatment immediately; I'm coming over right now!"

She no longer dwelled over what was happening as she turned and rushed out with her men in tow.

Meanwhile, Daniel was confidently planning his next step.

From Yvette's face, he knew her relative was gravely ill, and it wasn't just an ordinary sickness.

That was why he'd planted the psychological seed in her mind on purpose. When one was pushed into desperation, one would grasp at any hope no matter the cost.

"What are you up to? That smile of yours looks really shady." Drying her hair, Margaret approached Daniel and stood so close that her face nearly touched his.

Daniel glanced at her. "I'd advise you to keep your distance. Don't forget I'm a normal man. I'd very much eat you up."

"Oh? Would you like to give it a try?" Margaret's lips curled into a mischievous grin. Then, she slowly raised her hand, forming a scissor gesture in the air.
