Though Gordan appeared frail and weak, his eyes remained bright.
When he saw Yvette rush in, he forced a smile and said, "Evie, you're here!"
Just those words blurred Yvette's eyes with tears. "Grandpa, you'll be fine! I've purchased a thousand-year-old wild ginseng from the north. You'll be fine!"
"To die of old age and sickness are natural occurrences, my dear." Gordon reached out to gently stroke Yvette's head. "Don't overthink, and stay strong! The Winters family is counting on you!"
His words trailed off with coughs.
"Don't say that, Grandpa! You'll be fine!" Yvette shook her head and sobbed.
"Silly! I have no chance of survival unless a true Energy Cultivator is willing to intervene." Gordon had come to terms with his fate, and the smile on his face faded. "But remember, under no circumstances can the Winters family business fall into Aaden's hands!"
"Energy Cultivator?" Yvette was stunned to hear that and immediately ignored Gordon's warning. "Grandpa, are you saying an Energy Cultivator can save you?"
"Yes, but Energy Cultivators are rare, and they need to be highly skilled in medicine. Getting to meet one is already a blessing from the heavens!"
Gordon could sense Yvette's reluctance to let go, but he knew that finding someone who could save him wasn't as simple as just wanting it to happen.
Again, Daniel's figure flashed in Yvette's mind. "Hold on, Grandpa! I'll save you!"
Just as Yvette's words faded, Xander rushed in with a box. "Yvette, the wild ginseng you requested has arrived!"
Without any hesitation, Yvette sliced off a piece and placed it in Gordon's hand. Then, she turned to Xander and ordered, "From now on, no one is allowed to see Grandpa. I'll leave the family's martial artists to guard this place. Do you understand?"
"Copy that!" Xander immediately nodded.
Yvette got up and walked toward the door. But just as she stepped out, she saw Aaden Winters, her uncle.
