"It's true. The manager in sales at The Blair Group told me himself."
Waldo’s eyes widened, and for a second, he couldn’t believe it. He hung up, phone still in hand, hesitating. In the end, he decided not to ask Nestor about it. That just wasn’t his style. People came to him for favors, not the other way around.
He thought to himself, even if Nexus Dynamics was talking to The Blair Group, there was no way they’d actually be interested in those outdated production lines. That partnership was doomed from the start. As for Lawrence, he was useless, only making Nestor look down on him even more.
***
At the Harrisburg Institute of Technology guesthouse, Shirley's groan of frustration broke the quiet in her room. "My dad’s letting Lawrence help run the company?"
Alice had just found out, too. She was furious, her voice sharp on the phone. "Your dad made that call himself. Apparently, he’s giving Lawrence a lot of responsibility, too."
Shirley stood at her window, a cold smile flickering across her face. "My dad must be losing it. He’s letting just anyone in. The Blair Group’s going to go under at this rate."
Even though she sounded dismissive, Shirley was actually annoyed. How did Lawrence manage to win over Nestor? The guy had zero management experience, but now that Nestor was actually thinking about training him, he might end up in a major role. That would mean Lawrence and Catherine’s lives would only get better from here.
"Why should he get to benefit from the Blair family name? Your dad promised the company would be yours. So what’s the point of letting Lawrence in?" Alice was still fuming.
"Mom, just calm down for a second." Shirley tried to keep her own frustration in check. She had a feeling Catherine must have begged Nestor behind the scenes, and Nestor just went along with it without thinking too much.
"How am I supposed to calm down? The guy’s got nothing. No money, no connections, just a soldier who suddenly wants to call the shots in our company. What if he uses this as a way to slowly take over?"
"It’s good, everything’s fine. Waldo, Mom just told me Dad brought Lawrence into the company. Did you hear about that?" Shirley didn’t bother with small talk. She knew exactly how much Waldo disliked Lawrence.
"I heard." Waldo’s tone shifted, cool and clearly annoyed.
"Waldo, I don’t know what Dad’s thinking. How could he just let some outsider in? You know he always listens to you. Maybe you could talk to him…"
Before she could finish, Waldo cut her off. "I already talked to your dad. He hasn’t given me an answer yet."
Shirley’s heart skipped a beat. So Waldo was already on it. Maybe Lawrence would be out of the company before he even settled in.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
