Lawrence spent the next half hour talking things through with Nestor. The old man, known for being tight with money, was caught off guard by Lawrence’s ideas, but he couldn’t help feeling impressed, too.
It felt like someone had cracked open his stubborn way of thinking and let something new in. Technology was changing all the time, and honestly, Nestor knew he’d fallen behind. But Lawrence seemed like he was made for this world, like he just naturally belonged here.
Nestor had never expected Lawrence, the one he’d always underestimated, to be the one who could actually steer his company toward a brighter future. The realization that this young guy had more guts and vision than he did made Nestor’s face heat up.
He watched Lawrence closely, searching for any sign of arrogance, but all he saw was calm and steady confidence.
Was Lawrence really just a regular engineer who happened to be a veteran?
Maybe he was talented, Nestor thought, but there was no denying he was strapped for cash. He’d seen Lawrence’s place. The guy couldn’t even bring himself to replace that old, beat-up furniture. If he had any ambition at all, would he still be living in that crumbling house?
Nestor thought about it for a minute, sipping his tea, his eyes locked on Lawrence. After a few seconds, he finally spoke. “Lawrence, what you just said was gutsy. But I can’t deny it, you’re right. Times have changed, and if my company’s going to survive, we need to change with them.”
He stood up, walked over, and clapped Lawrence on the shoulder, only then realizing just how tall and solid the younger man was.
“I agree with your plan. But upgrading everything, reorganizing people, bringing in new tech—I can’t do it alone. You’ll have to help me.”
Lawrence nodded. “Don’t worry, Dad. I can take care of it.”
That answer made Nestor even more satisfied. Lawrence hadn’t even hesitated.
“Are you ready to take on this responsibility?” Nestor looked him straight in the eye. “If you are, I’ll give you full control of everything involving Nexus Dynamics. Every meeting, every negotiation.”
Lawrence gave a small smile. “I’ll do my best, Dad. I accept.”
Nestor blinked, surprised by how quickly he agreed. It was like nothing scared Lawrence. Did he even realize just how much he was trusting him with? This was the future of The Blair Group, after all.
Without The James Group, The Blair Group would lose eighty percent of its orders. That would mean bankruptcy. No way around it.
Suddenly, his phone rang. It wasn’t Nestor. It was the sales manager.
He picked up. “Yeah? What’s up?”
“Waldo, I just heard that this afternoon, people from Nexus Dynamics went to The Blair Group. It looks like they might have reached some kind of deal.”
Waldo shot out of his chair, his face going pale. “What did you say?”
How could a company like Nexus Dynamics possibly be interested in The Blair Group?

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
