Catherine could feel her confidence swelling again, thanks to Lawrence’s comforting words.
“Alright, I’ll put in the request as soon as I get back,” she said, her mind already racing with ideas about how she’d spend the windfall.
Just then, her phone lit up with a message. She glanced at the screen. “I’ve got a summary meeting this afternoon.”
Lawrence gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “Just focus on finishing your work here. Leave everything else until you’re back in Cabinda.”
She nodded, then slipped her arms around his waist, not wanting to let go. “So… are you leaving now?”
Lawrence’s voice was low. “Yeah, I need to head back with Magee.”
Catherine thought about everything he had on his plate. He was still holding onto his consultant role at Nexus Dynamics and helping Nestor’s company through a big transition. She didn’t want to take up any more of his time.
“Alright, go handle your stuff. I’ll come find you as soon as I’m done here.”
Just as she finished speaking, Magee strolled over with a few professors, deep in conversation. Catherine’s cheeks flushed and she quickly let go of Lawrence, stepping back a little.
“Catherine, you were really impressive today,” Magee said with genuine praise.
Jay chimed in with a smile. “Your proposal was unanimously approved by everyone.”
Catherine’s face grew warmer. She bowed slightly, her voice soft but clear. “Thank you, Jay, Magee, and all the professors. I’m really grateful to have had this chance to show my work. I’ll keep working hard.”
Her humility and poise made the senior experts nod in satisfaction, clearly pleased with her attitude.
Catherine didn’t notice the proud look in Lawrence’s eyes as he watched her.
After a bit of small talk, Magee glanced at his watch. “Lawrence, we should get going to the airport.”
Lawrence nodded at Catherine. “We’re heading out now.”
“Yes, sir. Catherine’s proposal took first place and she secured the development rights for the Project Apex Initiative,” came the respectful reply.
Patrick broke into a big, genuine laugh. “Fantastic. I knew she had it in her.”
“Patrick, is Catherine a relative of yours?” the person on the other end asked, curiosity clear in their voice.
Patrick paused, then chuckled. “Not exactly. She’s just a young person I admire a lot.”
After hanging up, Patrick reached for his personal phone and dialed another number.
“Hello?” came a gentle female voice.
“Catherine won first place in the institute’s competition!”

Im stiĺl waiting for the update, thank you....
I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
