Lawrence came back to headquarters from the factory today. Not long after, he stepped into the office, looking as calm and steady as always.
“Dad, you wanted to see me?”
Nestor studied Lawrence, the man he once underestimated but now saw in a whole new light. He’d made up his mind.
He got straight to the point and told Lawrence about Waldo’s plan to take over The Blair Group.
“Lawrence, you know what’s going on. I never thought the one I used to trust would come after me like this. He’s coming hard, and if we try to fight him directly, it’s going to be risky.”
Nestor put a hand on Lawrence’s shoulder, then walked over to the big window, looking out across the city. “Instead of waiting around for him to swallow us up, we should make the first move and find someone stronger to back us.”
Lawrence’s eyes flickered. “You mean…?”
“Nexus Dynamics.” Nestor turned, eyes steady and determined. “I’m going to reach out to their CEO and see if we can merge The Blair Group into one of their subsidiaries. We can use our core assets as equity and get their support. If we do that, Waldo will have to think twice before trying anything.”
It was true, Nestor might have to give up total control of his company, but compared to letting Waldo force them out, this was a real chance to survive. Maybe, with Nexus Dynamics behind them, The Blair Group could even grow stronger than ever.
Lawrence thought for a moment before answering. He didn’t agree right away, but he didn’t say no either. “Dad, are you sure you’re ready for this?”
“I am. Waldo is targeting you. There’s no way I’d throw you out of the company.” Nestor’s eyes softened, showing a rare hint of protectiveness. “You’re my son-in-law. I won’t let anyone push you around.”
Lawrence felt something shift inside him. He could hear the trust and approval in Nestor’s words. All his hard work had finally paid off—he’d earned this respect on his own.
