Lawrence pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. “I missed you.”
Catherine looped her arms around his neck, her voice soft and a little shy. “I missed you too.”
He carried her over to the sofa and sat down, keeping her perched on his lap, his arms wrapped around her like she belonged there.
The closeness made Catherine’s cheeks warm. She tucked her face against his chest, mumbling, “How did you find time to come by?”
“I’m here with your dad. We went to Nexus Dynamics to talk about the acquisition.”
She sat up fast, worry flickering in her eyes. “So? Did it go through?”
Lawrence nodded. “Yeah, it went really well. Nexus Dynamics is giving your dad the best possible deal. The contract should be signed in three days.”
Catherine’s whole face lit up. So the boss of Nexus Dynamics hadn’t lied after all. He really wanted to buy her father’s company, and from the sound of it, he was even taking good care of them.
That meant Waldo could finally stop scheming against her dad’s company.
Lawrence brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, his thumb gliding gently along her cheek. “How do you want to celebrate tonight?”
She thought for a second, tilting her head. “How about I treat you to the fanciest restaurant in Cabinda?”
He smiled, his eyes twinkling. “Sounds good.”
Right then, her stomach rumbled loudly. Catherine blushed, covering her face. “I was so busy at lunch, I barely had time to eat.”
Catherine blinked, half teasing, half serious. “Think about it. If you were the boss, you’d be buried in work every day. When would you have time for me? And honestly, I’d worry people would say I’m not good enough for you. I like things how they are. I have my job, and you can help my dad run his company. It’s perfect.”
Lawrence pulled her in even tighter. “Catherine, there’s no such thing as ‘not good enough.’ To me, you’re the best there is. I’m the lucky one to have you.”
She blinked and pulled back a little, cupping his face in her hands and looking into his deep eyes. “No, meeting you is the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
She added, her voice gentle and steady, “Status is just a label. You’re my husband, I’m your wife. We’re equals. All I want is for you to love me.”
Lawrence stared at her, a little stunned that she was the one comforting him. He had kept his real identity from her in the beginning, and now, somehow, the words just wouldn’t come.
And it wasn’t just one secret. He was both the founder of Nexus Dynamics and the son of a general. Either title would impress anyone. But meeting Catherine was the most unexpected and beautiful thing in his life, the one thing he wanted to protect above everything else.

Im stiĺl waiting for the update, thank you....
I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
