After the Fall A Leap into a Stranger's Arms novel Chapter 209

Lawrence smiled. “Dad, you don’t have to worry anymore.”

Nestor looked almost younger, his face lit up with energy and excitement. “You’re right. Once the acquisition is done, we should really map out the next steps. With Nexus Dynamics’ resources, we can take things to a whole new level.”

Lawrence nodded, listening to Nestor talk about their future plans. He couldn’t help but smile. “Dad, I believe everything you want will come true.”

Nestor felt good about the future, especially with Lawrence by his side. The confidence was contagious.

“Dad, I want to take Catherine out for dinner tonight, and maybe head back home with her afterward,” Lawrence said, throwing out the request while Nestor was still in such a great mood.

Nestor remembered the little trial period he’d set for them, but today he was feeling generous. He gave Lawrence a smile and a nod. “Alright. After work, go spend some time with Catherine. You should tell her the good news, too.”

“Thank you, Dad.” Lawrence’s smile was genuine.

Watching Lawrence, Nestor thought about how character and upbringing had nothing to do with money. In these past weeks, Lawrence had more than proved himself. He was capable, responsible, and carried himself with real integrity.

Even so, Nestor wasn’t ready to call off the trial just yet. He was planning to hand over both the company and Catherine’s future, so he wanted to be extra careful.

“Lawrence.” Nestor’s expression turned a little more serious. “I’m not trying to make things hard for you and Catherine. As her father, I have to look out for her. Two months isn’t so long. It’ll go by fast.”

Lawrence caught the meaning in his words and nodded with a determined look. “I understand, Dad. I won’t let you or Catherine down.”

Nestor’s eyes softened. “Good. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do. Now go have a great evening with Catherine.”

Standing in the lobby at Nexus Dynamics, Lawrence quickly texted Catherine. Dad said we can stay at the villa tonight. What do you want for dinner?

Catherine replied almost instantly. Really? What do you want to eat? I’ll book a restaurant.

Anything’s fine. You decide.

She figured it was her assistant dropping off paperwork, so she didn’t look up. “Come in!” she called out.

The door opened. Catherine kept her eyes on her phone, waiting for Lawrence’s reply.

Suddenly, she felt a familiar presence close by. The air around her changed, carrying a scent she knew by heart.

She looked up and found herself staring straight into a pair of deep, smiling eyes. Lawrence was already standing behind her, grinning.

“You… What are you doing here?” she blurted out, jumping to her feet in surprise. She tossed her phone aside and wrapped her arms around him without even thinking.

Lawrence caught her easily, pulling her into his arms and lifting her right off the ground.

Catherine hooked her legs around his waist and buried her face in his neck, surrounded by his clean, comforting scent and the strong, warm embrace she’d been craving.
