Catherine glanced at the hand offered in front of her and reached out politely. "Hi, Nicol."
Nicol shook her hand with a firm grip, then let go, every bit the gentleman. "Catherine, you really are as impressive as they say. I read your progress report for the Apex Initiative. It was outstanding."
As Catherine met Nicol’s eyes, she couldn’t shake a strange feeling. Was this really the president of Nexus Dynamics? He felt so unfamiliar, nothing like the person she’d talked to before. That president had given off the vibe of an older mentor, someone with decades of experience. Could there really be two presidents at Nexus Dynamics?
"Thank you, Nicol. It was a team effort," Catherine replied, keeping her tone humble.
"Let’s not just stand here. Come on in and have a seat," Magee said, breaking the awkward pause.
The meeting got underway. Nicol, as the person in charge, first listened to all the core project reports, including the Apex Initiative. He was sharp and direct, cutting straight to the point with every question.
Catherine answered him carefully, staying focused. Oddly enough, Nicol didn’t point out a single flaw in her project. Instead, he actually praised her work several times. She was surprised, not sure what to make of it.
After the meeting, Catherine headed back to her office. She pulled out her phone and called Lawrence. "I met our company’s president today. He’s not at all what I expected."
"Oh? What do you mean?" Lawrence sounded amused.
"The president I talked to before felt like a senior figure, someone older. I’d have guessed he was at least sixty. But this Nicol guy... he’s really young."
Lawrence was quiet for a moment. When he spoke again, his voice was a little rough. "Do I really come across as that old?"
"Wait. Don’t tell me Nexus Dynamics actually has two bosses," Catherine said, the thought hitting her all at once.
"You guessed it. There are two. The one you chatted with is the other president. Nicol is the COO, running global operations," Lawrence explained.
Catherine blinked, surprised. "How do you know all this?"
At the front desk, she mentioned she was looking for Lawrence. Instantly, all three receptionists stared at her, curious what a woman like her wanted with him.
"Miss, are you Lawrence’s...?"
"I’m his wife," Catherine said, not hiding anything.
The receptionists froze, looking at her in surprise. So this was The Blair Group’s heiress? Word had already spread around the company about Lawrence’s connection to Nestor, the owner.
Catherine was shown to the first-floor office area. The receptionist pointed out Lawrence’s office, then went back to her desk.
Catherine walked up to the office and saw the door was slightly open. A playful smile crossed her face as she thought about how much she’d surprise him.
Just then, a sharp, spoiled female voice drifted out from inside.

Im stiĺl waiting for the update, thank you....
I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
