After the Fall A Leap into a Stranger's Arms novel Chapter 231

Catherine was still trying to wrap her head around everything. She looked at Lawrence and asked, “Guess who Nettie got into a car accident with?”

Lawrence raised an eyebrow, pretending to be curious. “Someone you know?”

Catherine’s eyes widened. “It was Nicol from our company. Nicol, can you believe it?”

Lawrence couldn’t help but smile. “Should we join them for dinner?”

Catherine blinked, a little thrown. “Wouldn’t that be kind of weird?”

Lawrence let out a soft laugh. “Nicol and I are actually good friends. It’s totally normal for us to grab a meal together.”

Catherine stared at him for a moment. “Wait, you and Nicol are friends? How come you never told me that?”

Then it hit her—Lawrence and Nicol were both among the first employees at Nexus Dynamics. She just never realized they were close.

Right then, her phone buzzed with a message from Nettie. Catherine, who is this guy?!

Catherine replied honestly. He’s our company’s CEO, Nettie. Be careful, okay? Try not to upset him.

Meanwhile, in the private dining room, Nettie read the reply and froze. She glanced up at the man sitting across from her, his presence almost intimidating. Oh my god, she thought, I’m having dinner with the president of Nexus Dynamics?

At the same time, Lawrence texted Nicol. Let’s eat together. We’re in the main hall.

Nicol looked a little surprised but texted back right away. Private room 8.

Just as Nettie was starting to panic, the door opened and Lawrence and Catherine walked in. Nettie almost sighed in relief. “Catherine, you’re here!”

Nicol stood up to greet them. “Lawrence, Catherine. Glad you could make it.”

“Yeah, let’s keep it casual. No need to stand on ceremony,” Nicol said easily. Then he looked at Lawrence. “So, when are you and Catherine tying the knot?”

“When the time’s right, we’ll invite you to the wedding,” Lawrence replied, eyes crinkling with a smile.

Catherine joined in, “Nicol, I hope you’ll look out for me at work.”

“Don’t mention it, Catherine,” Nicol said, waving a hand dismissively.

They ordered a few more dishes, and soon everyone started to loosen up. Nettie was shy at first, but Nicol’s warm and easy conversation helped her relax.

By eight-thirty, dinner was winding down. Catherine leaned over and asked Nettie, “Your car’s still in the shop, right? Did you take a cab here?”

Nicol overheard and jumped in right away. “Nettie, I drove tonight. Let me take you home. It’s safer than catching a cab at this hour.”
