“Dad, what’s on your mind?” Catherine asked, watching her father, who looked completely lost in thought.
“Is Lawrence’s dad here too?” Nestor asked.
“Lawrence said his dad lives in Harrisburg now,” Catherine replied. Honestly, she hadn’t even met Lawrence’s father yet herself.
“Go see Lawrence,” Nestor said, waving her away.
Once Catherine left, humming with excitement, Nestor rubbed his chin, still thinking. Who was this Lawrence, really? Waldo had done some digging before and only managed to find out that Lawrence’s mom was a university professor. Nothing about his father. Nestor had just assumed the man was no longer around.
So he actually lived in Harrisburg? Maybe Lawrence grew up with just his mom. That seemed like the only explanation.
Nestor was about to leave the study when Alice walked in, and she didn’t look happy.
“Alice, what’s wrong?” he asked gently.
“I heard everything,” Alice shot back. “When Shirley gets married, you’re not allowed to take a wedding gift from her either.”
Nestor couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright, alright. I won’t take wedding gifts from either of our daughters.”
“And that whole thing with Catherine signing those papers... So it was just for show?” Alice complained, crossing her arms.
Nestor knew she was feeling left out, so he reached out and patted her arm. “Come on, those shares belonged to her mother in the first place. Giving them back to Catherine is the right thing to do.”
“Sure, and now you’re all about Lawrence, and Catherine’s got her shares. I guess you’re ready to hand The Blair Group over to them, huh?” Alice muttered, turning away.
“Alright, don’t be upset,” Nestor said, trying to soothe her.
She barely had time to kick off her shoes before Lawrence came in right after her. The house was spotless and full of light, so Lana must have come by to clean.
Catherine stepped out to the backyard and sat on the swing, gently rocking back and forth. Soon enough, a tall, broad-shouldered figure stepped through the door.
Lawrence wore a dark t-shirt and casual pants. He was six foot three and had the kind of presence that filled a room even when he was outside. He stood straight and steady, like he couldn’t be knocked over by anything.
Sunlight hit his face, drawing out the sharp lines of his jaw and the strong bridge of his nose. His lips were thin but inviting, and his whole look had that tough, military edge.
Catherine caught herself staring. She had to swallow, her cheeks going pink.
Thinking about what life would be like after they got married made her blush even more. She tried to focus on the swing, but her heart was pounding so hard she could barely sit still.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
