“We’re just waiting for Catherine to win this Resonance AI case.”
Lawrence glanced through the glass window at the girl lounging on the sofa, flipping through a photo album. His eyes softened. “There’s no rush. Don’t push her.”
“Got it,” Nicol replied before ending the call.
Lawrence put away his phone and walked into the living room, settling down beside Catherine. She was completely absorbed in the thick album, her fingers tracing old photos.
“Was I cute when I was a kid?” he asked, leaning closer with a teasing smile.
Catherine turned to a couple of photos of him as a toddler, wearing split pants and bawling his eyes out. She burst out laughing. “You were adorable.”
Lawrence shook his head, grinning. “Pretty sure that was after I fell down. My mom loved to document stuff like that.”
Catherine giggled, lowering her voice. “Did you really not notice what you were wearing?”
Lawrence looked a little embarrassed, his deep eyes glinting with mischief. “And what exactly are you thinking about right now?”
Catherine’s cheeks flushed pink. She quickly looked away. “I’m not thinking anything, thank you very much.”
But inside, she was secretly pleased. He’s mine anyway. What’s the harm in looking?
Later that afternoon, after finishing her bird’s nest soup, Catherine left with Lawrence and headed back to his villa.
They took a nap together. When Catherine woke up, Lawrence suddenly said, “Catherine, I have to go on a business trip Monday. I’ll be away for about three days.”
“Where are you going?”
