Catherine had just stepped back into the Nexus Dynamics office when her phone started buzzing. She checked the screen and saw Nettie’s name.
She picked up. “Hey.”
“Oh my god, Catherine, you’re unreal!” Nettie practically squealed. “Lawrence turned out to be a secret boss. Like, top-tier, billionaire-level boss!”
Catherine laughed, not surprised at all that Nettie was calling about this. “Honestly, I just found out yesterday myself.”
“Nexus Dynamics’ founder! He’s loaded. When you married him, you seriously had no clue?” Nettie sounded like she was dying to know.
Catherine let out a helpless sigh. “I really didn’t know who he was. Marrying him just kind of… happened.”
“Come on, it had to be fate,” Nettie said, clearly still in awe. “But seriously, Waldo can’t call Lawrence poor anymore. Lawrence crushes him in every way—money, looks, personality. I bet Waldo’s losing his mind right now.”
Catherine shook her head, a little smile tugging at her lips. “I didn’t even notice his reaction, to be honest. But yeah, he used to look down on Lawrence all the time. After everything he’s said and done, it’s kind of satisfying to see the tables turn.”
“Oh, by the way, I heard Shirley and Waldo are getting engaged. Is that true? The gossip sites are still recycling your old drama for clicks,” Nettie said.
“It’s true. They’re getting engaged this Saturday,” Catherine replied, her tone calm. “My dad called and asked Lawrence and me to go.”
“I doubt they’re even in love. Feels more like a business deal than anything else,” Nettie said, seeing right through it.
A faint, mocking smile appeared on Catherine’s lips. “One wants money, the other wants status. Honestly, they deserve each other.”
“Catherine, I have this new dress I designed. It’s a one-of-a-kind piece. Let me lend it to you—you’ll totally steal the spotlight.”
Catherine couldn’t help but laugh. “Is that really necessary?”
Same with her grandma’s bracelet. Lawrence had been the one backing her up then, too. If she went back and reread their old texts, she’d probably notice how steady and confident he’d been the whole time. He’d had everything in hand from the start.
Catherine knocked on the office door and walked in to see Lawrence sitting behind his desk. The sun was setting, and golden light poured in through the big windows, outlining his sharp features. Even just sitting there, he had this quiet, undeniable power.
When he heard her, he looked up. The moment he saw her, his serious face softened, and he held out his hand. His voice turned gentle. “Come here.”
She walked over, slipping her hand into his. With a light tug, he pulled her onto his lap. She blushed a little but wrapped her arms around him anyway. “So, what did you need?”
Lawrence hugged her a little tighter, resting his chin on her head. “I just missed you.”
Catherine grinned and decided to tease him. “Aren’t relationships in the office against the rules?”
Lawrence lowered his head and brushed a soft kiss over her lips. “For you, I’d break any rule.”

I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
