“I’m married. Please don’t show up in my life again,” Catherine said, her voice cool and steady.
“Married?” Waldo let out a sharp laugh. “To that engineer? Do you seriously think he’s good enough for you?”
“That has nothing to do with you.” Catherine’s tone went even colder. She hated how he always looked down on Lawrence.
“Nothing to do with me?” Waldo’s face twisted, his eyes sparking with anger. “He stole my fiancée. How could that be none of my business?”
Just then, headlights swept across the driveway. A black SUV pulled up to the gate. The door opened and Lawrence stepped out.
He wore a dark gray suit, looking like he’d just come from some important event. He glanced at Waldo, his voice low and frosty. “Waldo, what are you doing here this late?”
Waldo turned to glare at Lawrence. For a second, he was caught off guard by the confidence Lawrence carried. There was something commanding in the way he stood, something sharp and unshakable, like someone who’d seen his share of battles and come out stronger.
But Waldo brushed it off and snorted. Lawrence might look the part, but he was still just an engineer. Waldo had dozens of those working for him.
“Just an engineer, and you think you deserve to walk around dressed like that?” Waldo said with a smirk.
“What’s wrong with being an engineer?” Lawrence raised an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth lifting in an easy smile.
“Quit pretending you’re some big shot. Do you really think Catherine’s impressed by any of this?” Waldo rolled his eyes.
On the other side of the gate, Catherine had heard enough. She pushed the gate open and walked quickly to Lawrence. Before Waldo could react, she reached up, wrapped her arms around Lawrence’s neck, and kissed him on his solid, stubbled jaw.
Waldo’s assistant stepped up like he wanted to say something, but Waldo wasn’t listening. He could only watch the couple as they disappeared inside. He clenched his jaw. Catherine, after tomorrow, I’ll be the top earner in the entire tech industry. Will you regret your choice then?
Inside the courtyard, Catherine remembered the kiss and felt her cheeks flush. “Did I… go too far just now?”
Lawrence smiled softly. “Not at all.” He narrowed his eyes, looking at her. “But next time…”
Catherine looked up quickly, worried he was about to tell her not to kiss him again.
Lawrence slid an arm around her waist and leaned in closer. “You don’t have to prove yourself to people who don’t matter.”
She stared into his deep, steady eyes. In that moment, she felt something fierce inside him, a promise that he would never let her lose.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
