Afterward, even though regret gnawed at him, there was no way to undo what he’d done. The mistake was real, and all he could do was live with it. But Alice told him he didn’t owe her anything. She said they could just treat it as a one-time error and move on.
He thought that would be the end of their story. He really believed they would never cross paths again. But after his wife passed away, Alice showed up out of nowhere. And she wasn’t alone. She had a little girl with her.
Nestor’s first instinct was denial. He didn’t think the child could possibly be his. Alice saw right through him. Without a word, she picked up a pair of scissors and made a small cut on the little girl’s palm. She wiped the blood with a tissue, her eyes full of tears, and pressed the tissue into his hand.
If you don’t believe me, go test it. See for yourself if she’s really yours.
Nestor just stood there, stunned. After Alice took the child upstairs, he realized he was still clutching the bloody tissue in his hand.
He went to the DNA testing center himself. He watched the nurse collect the tissue and draw his blood, making sure everything was done right in front of him.
The results came back. The little girl was his. From that moment on, guilt over Shirley made him treat her with even more care and attention.
Back at the office, Nestor clenched his fists and went straight to Ulysess.
“Ulysess, I need you to do something for me. Keep it off the record. I’ll make sure you’re taken care of,” Nestor said quietly.
Ulysess had worked at his side for six years. He knew how to handle things, and Nestor trusted him completely.
“Just tell me what you need,” Ulysess replied without hesitation.
Nestor explained. He wanted Ulysess to keep tabs on Alice. Where she went. Who she met. He was to keep a detailed record and report back regularly.
Ulysess immediately understood. Was Nestor worried Alice might be seeing someone else?
“Don’t let a word of this slip to anyone,” Nestor warned, his tone serious.
“I get it, Nestor. You can count on me,” Ulysess promised, and headed out.
That wasn’t like her. Why was she suddenly so calm? Was Catherine planning something else? Now that Shirley was Waldo’s wife, going after her meant going up against the whole James Group.
And Waldo would never let Lawrence touch her.
Shirley put her phone away, a little smirk playing on her lips. Catherine would just have to swallow this loss. After all, if word got out, it would only damage Catherine’s own reputation.
Go ahead and hide if you want, Catherine. See if I care. Shirley muttered under her breath, her voice icy with satisfaction.
Catherine woke up after a deep, dreamless sleep and found her phone on silent. She had a few new messages. She picked it up and saw a new one had just come in.
Catherine, I got the evidence. I’m on my way back now.
It was from Lenny.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
