Catherine’s eyes lit up and she shot back a reply, “Travel safe.”
Lenny messaged right away. “Don’t worry, the Nexus Dynamics security team is with me. And I’m coming home on a private jet.”
Relief washed over Catherine. That was one less thing to worry about. Just then, Lawrence came in, carrying a glass of warm water. He saw she was awake and smiled gently. “How did you sleep?”
Catherine couldn’t hide her excitement. “Lenny found the USB drive from all those years ago.”
Lawrence didn’t look surprised at all. He sat down beside her and pulled her into his arms. “I know,” he said softly.
The way he seemed to have everything under control made her feel safe. With him here, she didn’t need to be anxious about anything.
“What do you want to eat?” Lawrence asked, his fingers gently smoothing her messy hair.
“I want something light. Maybe your noodles,” Catherine said, wrapping her arms around his neck and giving him a playful look. “Will you make them for me, hubby?”
Lawrence touched her nose with a look full of affection, then pressed his forehead to hers, smiling. “Of course. Anything you want.”
Catherine hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek. “I feel so lucky to have the big CEO cooking noodles just for me.”
“At home, I’m not a CEO. I’m just your husband,” Lawrence said, clearly wanting to keep things simple between them.
Catherine giggled. “Okay, then. I’ll wait for my noodles.”
Shirley had been a freshman then, volunteering to clean the lab—probably to impress her professors.
She swept up, wiped down the counters, and soon spotted the USB drive in the main computer. Even back then, Shirley was already a doctoral student, sharp and technically skilled.
She didn’t hesitate. She turned on the computer, opened the files on the USB, and read through the AI system’s code. Then she pulled the USB out, slipped it into her pocket, and continued cleaning like nothing had happened.
Ten minutes after Shirley left, Amy came in, stayed for a few minutes, then picked up her bag and walked out.
But another ten minutes later, a new figure appeared. This person wore a mask and a hat, their face hidden, and their movements looked suspicious. After they entered the lab, sparks suddenly shot out near the main computer, then thick smoke started to pour out, followed by a sudden burst of flames.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
