After the Fall A Leap into a Stranger's Arms novel Chapter 306

The person bolted out of the lab, barely able to hide their panic as they made a quick escape. With the thick smoke swirling and the camera angle all wrong, there was no clear footage of what she actually did. Still, she slipped away right after.

Back then, the lab’s system logs listed Amy as the last user, so the school put all the blame on her. As for the security camera, everyone figured it had been destroyed in the fire.

No one realized that another camera in the physics department had caught the whole thing.

Catherine’s hands curled into fists. Watching the footage, she felt certain now. Shirley was the one who started the fire. She was the one who set Amy up.

All of it, just to hide the fact that she’d stolen something.

Right then, Lawrence walked in with a steaming bowl of noodles. He saw Catherine still glued to the screen and came over to her side, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. “You saw it?”

Catherine nodded. “We finally have the whole chain of evidence for the Resonance AI case. We can file a lawsuit against The James Group whenever we want.”

Lawrence’s eyes grew cold. Shirley’s tricks were nasty and low. She deserved whatever was coming to her.

“Eat something first,” Lawrence said. “We’ll talk about the lawsuit after Lenny comes back with that flash drive.”

“Okay.” Catherine closed the video. He was right. Shirley’s fate was already sealed.

There was no need to hurry. When it was time for Shirley to pay for what she’d done, there’d be no way out for her.

Catherine grabbed her chopsticks and swirled some noodles, taking a bite. The aroma of Lawrence’s cooking filled the air, and the broth was so warm it sent a gentle heat through her whole body.

“This is so good,” she said with a smile.

Lawrence sat across from her, watching her eat with a look of quiet satisfaction.

She greeted him with a bright smile. “Nestor, you’re home!”

She took his briefcase and coat, hanging his coat neatly on the rack. Then she smiled again. “You must be tired after today. And thirsty, right? I made you some tea.”

Alice picked up the cup herself and brought it over to him.

Nestor smiled at her. “You always think of everything. I really am thirsty.”

He took the cup and added, “I have a video meeting in the study in a bit. Try not to come in and interrupt.”

“What meeting is so urgent? At least finish your tea first.” Alice’s smile wavered, her eyes flicking to the cup in his hand.

Nestor noticed and couldn’t help but laugh a little. “Don’t worry, I’ll drink it while I’m in the meeting. Your tea is always the best. I’ll be sure to finish every drop.”
